'Innocence of Muslims' Shot on Hollywood-Built Set - production worker talking to FBI
Hollywood Reporter ^ | September 14, 2012 | Paul Bond

The Innocence of Muslims, a movie that has enraged radical Islamists who have rioted and committed murders in the Middle East this week, was partially shot on a set that Paramount's TV unit helped to build for its TV show JAG, and a man with five decades of movie and television experience is helping the FBI figure out who is behind the controversial film.

Portions of the infamous, micro-budget movie were filmed in Saugus, about 30 miles north of Hollywood, on a portion of Blue Cloud Film Ranch called “Baghdad Square,” which is often used for TV and film productions seeking to replicate Middle Eastern war zones.

“JAG and Paramount and myself, we built this entire set for the JAG TV series,” says Blue Cloud owner Rene Veluzat in a YouTube video where he describes his movie ranch. On Thursday, though, that video was made “private” and protected by a password.

Paramount Television produced JAG, which aired on CBS from 1995-2005.

A Paramount spokesperson said the studio has no way to verify whether it built the set.

The building facades in and around Baghdad Square at Blue Cloud appear in episodes of JAG and The Innocence of Muslims, as well as other TV shows and movies.

The FBI and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were interviewing Veluzat on Thursday, and Veluzat told The Hollywood Reporter that both law-enforcement agencies instructed him not to speak with the press or other interested parties about what he knows about The Innocence of Muslims.

Sources close to the investigation say they’re hoping Veluzat can, among other information, provide clarity as to the real names of the filmmakers. The Innocence of Muslims filmed Aug. 18, 2011, at Blue Cloud under the name Desert Warrior. The producer was listed in the film permit as Sam Bossil, though it’s an alias (reports also have identified him as Sam Bacile).

According to Film L.A., the county is holding the film permit under lock and key for now while it alerts those who are named on it that their identities -- assuming they are real -- are about to made public. Insiders say law-enforcement officials are concerned for the safety of the filmmakers once their true identities are known.

Other movies and TV shows partially filmed at Blue Cloud include Iron Man, Get Him to the Greek, Serenity, Arrested Development, NCIS Los Angeles, The Closer, Threat Matrix and CSI. The U.S. military has also made training videos at Blue Cloud.

Veluzat, 72, said the 100-acre ranch is for sale for $15 million.

Veluzat worked as a stand-in for TV shows in the 1960s. Later, he acted, did stunt work, worked in post production, transportation and in the art department of various productions. In 2003, he produced The Long Ride Home, a film starring Randy Travis, Eric Roberts and Ernest Borgnine that Lions Gate Films distributed.

Really strange. I could only watch a little of that movie trailer. It was like an amateur Monty Python flick except not without the humor.

It’s hard to know who this person really is. Maybe a liberal plant trying to make conservatives look bad and it backfired. I just cant see a rightwinger in Hollywood (Paramount). That’s about as odd as a Jew in Tehran.

Surprised that Muslims wouldn’t have had this sort of outrage for several South Park episodes, which makes this films origins seem like a perfect storm for this like it was a liberal that made the film to use it as an excuse, but use an alias to make it seem like it was made by a jewish person. I the FBI finds out it was a hoax and the originator of the film was a lefty elitist, then will all of a sudden the outrage for the maker of the film vanish in thin air?

Thia is all very strange. Does anyone know of someone who has viewed this movie? Then all the kerfuffle about the producers who the FBI are trying to locate for some reason; either to protect them or arrest them - its not quite clear. Plus the various government warnings about anticipating violence in the US in the very near future.

These warnings are not about Islamics in the US but about some supposed subversive element (never named of course) who will try to start a helter skelter type scenario. Are these people supposed to be left, right, fascist, agents provocateur, druids...?

Furthermore, would I be paranoid to any extent if I were to be concerned about several other thing like the approaching elections and the huge ammunition purchases by some Federal agencies is the past few months. Just wondering.

The only reason for investigating the creation of this film is to establish whether it has ties back to the Muslim Brotherhood itself or back to our current government. This effort is only covered by the 1st Amendment if it is not a “false flag” operation.

So now making a cheesy, non-pornographic amateur movie with zero production values is a federal crime?

Who knew?

It’s only taken 1,400 years for the world at threat to finally understand Islam, so I say great. Better to slap down the insane murder cult once and for all, grasp the nettle, instead of losing one country after another.

exactly, it’s almost like the Muslims know that they have won, knowing they are tearing down the fabric of our country through liberal appeasement, making the liberals their own useful idiots until they can violently destroy American interests and ultimately Americans themselves.

Islam has a glass jaw: it can’t abide humor or criticism in any way without totally freaking out.

Instead of fearing Islam, we need to punch that glass jaw repeatedly.

I hope the American public gets outraged over all the liberals trying to blame this on the movie

Anybody with sense knows these fanatics don’t need any excuse to riot and raise hell

I've seen worse on YouTube only more like documentaries are the truth of their religion. Heck, I have many in my playlist on YT.

The attacks did not happen because of this film. I think the organizers used the excuse about the film to recruit people into their protests.

Here's something to ponder. Did anybody find it strange that the democrats (Obama) removed support for Israel off its platform at the conventions? They get a lot of the Jewish votes normally. Why did they do that?

And supposedly there would be a lot of Muslims at the convention. I even heard that one would actually say a prayer.

I think Obama had made a deal with the Muslim Brotherhood. Obama would remove the pro-Israel platform from the democrat convention and Libya and Egypt would remain (or at least appear to remain) allies with the US and not with Iran. You know, to avoid embarrassment for Obama during the election season.

Well, during the convention Obama was pressured to reverse that and return the support of Israel on the DNC platform. Reluctantly he allowed them to do that.

If he made a deal with the Muslim Brotherhood, they would obviously be very angry over this reversal and betrayal.

Voila!

I mean look, Obama (who is anti-Israel himself anyways) has been giving Netanyahu an extra cold shoulder since the conventions. Almost as if he fears being seen with the man.

I think Muslim Brotherhood is getting revenge for Obama's Betrayal and again recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capitol.

Inflame a Moslem today - do it for America.

I think it's time that they were repeatedly mocked. Let's make a million videos and start each one with a disclaimer. If you peacefully protest this video, we apologize for offending you. If you murder and riot, thanks for proving our point. As long as you act like savages, we will continue to mock and ridicule you. You have no place in the civilized world.

I don't understand. If a woman is beat by her husband, you don't start the story with a condemnation of the wife. "She really shouldn't have said that. She knew her husband over reacts. If fact, it's her fault she was beat and she intentionally caused the incident to happen. Oh, and by the way, he shouldn't have hit her, but it's still her fault."

Great info. However, seems to me that “breach of peace” may apply on U.S. soil but does not extend beyond our borders.

I’m not a lawyer. I’m just guessing.

I'm putting my money on the idea that this was produced or at least ‘finished’ by a muslim interest. The underlying values expressed in this ‘trailer’ (I'm also betting there is no movie) reflect a sophomoric understanding of what free speech is and what it encompasses. It's like watching a monkey trying to come to grips with with the concepts behind the Declaration of Independence. He can put on a tricorner hat, hold the paper aloft, and scamper around excitedly. But you just know that sooner or later; he's going to soil himself and start flinging feces at everyone and everything. I find it comforting to know that he will never disappoint.

If he wants protection, likely, he shouldn’t try to get it in California. Instead try Maricopa County, AZ, protected by Sheriff Joe Arpaio. He would protect him from both Muslim terrorists and Moonbat Californians.
