Mark Steyn on Obama's Las Vegas 'performance': 'Every American should be ashamed of their president'

On Hugh Hewitt’s radio show Thursday night, National Review columnist Mark Steyn, author of “After America: Get Ready for Armageddon,” said President Barack Obama gave an embarrassing performance Wednesday during his campaign swing through Las Vegas, Nev., in the wake of attacks on U.S. diplomatic stations in Libya and Egypt.

“I thought that thing last night with the president saying he had ‘a tough day’ and comparing the dead Americans in Libya to campaign supporters, which he did — I thought was one of the most disgraceful, inept and embarrassing performances by a head of state or government that I have ever seen,” Steyn said. “Every American should be ashamed of their president.”

Steyn didn’t fault the president for going to Sin City, acknowledging that sometimes plans are in place and things have to move along. But the tone of Obama’s remarks set him off.

No one in America is entitled to that job title at this point, so the phrase is meaningless. I just hope and pray that we will get a real president on January 20, 2013, and that Congress will be conservative enough to force him to govern as a man we can take pride in.

He is incapable of this, because there is nothing of America in him. I've been saying it since before '08.... He is not ONE OF US. Whether he is "technically" American by birth (doubtful) or not, there is nothing of the American experience about him. He is simply, culturally, NOT an American. And no matter what pretty words his masters might teach him to speak, that fact will always be, and will always show.

We certainly are here on FR and have been for some time. I'm hopeful that the rest of America is too.

For anyone who ISN’T a functional illiterate, all Obama’s speeches and remarks consistently exhibit a most embarrassing lack of basic language skills.

For MY money, anyone without language skill is ALSO (and more significantly) a person of low intellect.

Why? Because... to speak is to think! Your speech will always reflect the extent and depth of your knowledge, sophistication and clarity of thought. If you have ANY command of the subject on which you are speaking, it will be apparent even IF you do not prepare or formulate ahead of time.

With “O”, I always see a shameful poverty of expression. He consistently employs inappropriate, ineffective, hackneyed and dated expressions. No educated person who’s spent a lifetime in public service and who is supposed to be regarded as ‘well read’ would EVER express himself in this way.

Additionally, “O” is emotionally flat. Any emotion which he attempts to display appears labored, self-conscious and visibly coached.

I have to wonder if he’s EVER in his life read the speeches of Churchill, Lincoln, Douglas, etc. Heck, the speeches and expressions of American native chiefs articulate more and greater depth of feeling and concise logic than anything I’ve ever heard from “O”.

THIS is just exactly why I am certain that “O” is a perfect fraud and bounder foisted on to the American political system by Liberals and their other Anti-American creatures… themselves VERY easily led and impressed by shallow, superficial intellects.

They are NOT fooling ME!
