A new poll out Thursday evening from NBC News and The Wall Street Journal gives Barack Obama some breathing room in three key statesVirginia, Ohio, and perhaps most importantly Florida, a state that analysts say is crucial to Mitt Romneys hopes of winning the White House.
There the poll gives Obama a 49-44 edge, and comes on the heels of a poll out Thursday afternoon that gave brief hope to the Romney campaign.
That poll, sponsored by the Associated Industries of Florida, a pro-business lobbying group, puts Romney up 50-47 in the state. It, however, comes with caveats. The survey was conducted by the right-leaning polling firm McLaughlin & Associates, and the candidates are within the 4 percent margin of error. Other polls out this weekfrom Survey USA, and Rasmussen, to name but a fewgive Obama a similarly slight edge, or call the race a dead heat.
Still, for a Romney camp that has seen poll numbers slip nationally coming out of the convention and is facing withering criticism after it bungled the response to the Middle East embassy shootings, any good poll in a storm will do. And so backers of the former Massachusetts governor pounced on the numbers this afternoon as evidence that its messaging in the Sunshine State was working.

But here is the golden (arrogant, hilarious) part - their comments on Jewish Florida voters:
With his record on Israel, Obama should be up over 90 percent among Jewish voters, said Robert Watson, a professor of American Studies at Lynn University in Boca Raton. But there has been a very effective fear-mongering campaign that has been running through the synagogues, through the Hadassah chapters, through the community groups, and it has been making inroads.
Watson said that when he speaks to older Jewish voters, they often reference chain emails or blogs they have read which question Obamas upbringing and his commitment to Israel.
I dont want to sound disparaging, but folks over 65 are not as sophisticated when it comes to social media, he said. They read something online and they dont realize its not coming from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal or Newsweek.

Just wow!
So if it doesn't come from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal or Newsweek, then we shouldn't listen. If we do, we're not 'sophisticated'.
I needed to start my day with a good laugh!
I’ve got to ping you to this! Read my comment to get to the meat of it.
Oh media, you so funny!
Is your headline deliberately provocative or is it just incompetent?
Since altered, thankfully.
mmm mmmm mmmm
Keep up the emails!
The mystery has always been why Jews are communist sympathizers and vote Demoncratic. The answer is they do because they hate Christians more. The ‘Far Right’ scares them,...but Not the ‘Far Left!’
I’m so sorry that that came across wrong! That was the implication of the article. (So I guess I’m pleading incompetent.)
Glad it was fixed! 8-\
(PS: I’m Jewish!)
Yes, but they’re waking up and now the left has decided that they are unsophisticated and easily manipulated.
I love it. When Jewish voters are voting left, they’re considered to be the smartest people in the world (by the left).
Now that a large portion of them are starting to see the light (in the eyes of the left) they’re just so easily confused by the internet!
Jews, please take note and help send the grifter packing.
Thanks for the reply. The problem with internet is that it seems like conversation but is still writing, and important clues of intonation and expression are left out. Things seem more stark than intended much of the time.
My apologies for getting snarky. I really thought that was intended as a blanket put down. That said, I truly DO NOT understand the lopsided favor for leftwing politics generally with so many Jews. I have always assumed it was mostly a secular versus religious distinction, with the seculars attempting to create heaven on earth. Good works writ too large and misapplied.
It’s OK. I messed up!
I originally put the title then, (the left now thinks that Jews are too stupid to understand the media). I’ve seen this for years on FR, a major implication of the article pointed out in the title.
It was too long, so I shortened it without thinking. I was too focused on getting the first comment right so I could get the point across.
I’m just glad that my blonde moment was fixed and I thank you for your understanding! :)
Funny, these assclowns look real carefully at a poll showing Romney ahead, but not at an oversampled D +7 poll...or whatever it was for Obamugabe.
Great, so we get an extended stream of comments about the change in the original headline. How about someone posting what it said, so the stream at least makes sense to those of us who didn’t see it?
He was snarky, I apologized for my mistake, he apologized, I said it was OK and explained myself...
I think it was more about us trying to not leave the other feeling bad. We’ll let it go! lol!

I just can’t get over the shocked attitude of this jerk that Obama’s not at 90% with Jews. Then to say that older Jews aren’t ‘sophisticated’ enough to understand that they aren’t getting their information from three lefty-approved rags... it’s just too much!
Yup. And I love how they carefully explain that it was conducted by right-wing people.
spin, spin, spin.
Had Obama been up by 3% in the same poll, they’d have been saying that he’s got it in the bag. That Romney should just quit now. This whole thing was so bias that it made my head spin.
The article said: “both Obama and George W. Bush in 2004 won the state by less than three percentage points, after a virtual tie in 2000.”
Obama won Florida by less than 3 percentage points? I did not know that. Surely he has angered enough Jews and small business owners to knock off more than 3 percent of his ‘08 support. This makes me think that Romney could win Florida BIG.
I just looked it up and you’re right!
Florida election results 2008
Obama - 4,282,074 (51.03%)
McCain - 4,045,624 (48.22)
There is NO WAY that we lose Florida!
There is no such thing as "fear mongering" when the fear of "Osama" Obama is reasonable and palpable.
You must realize that "The Daily Beast" is a leftist site so that they are going to spin the (likely flawed) poll results favoring Zero as they please. But these comments from Watson and others elsewhere in this article indicate that the 'Rats are really nervous about Florida. In fact, it's they who will have a very difficult time winning nationally if they lose Florida.
This comes right from the alligator's mouth to your ears!
