Ted Jr. may follow in dad’s footsteps
Boston Herald ^ | 9/14/12 | Joe Battenfeld

With one Kennedy already on the ballot this fall, don’t be surprised to see another member of the political clan soon make a bid to join the family business.

Edward M. Kennedy Jr., the eldest son of the late Massachusetts senator, is consulting with a veteran Washington political hand in a clear sign he’s seriously considering a run for office, the Herald has learned.

The 50-year-old Kennedy brought in longtime Democratic strategist Steve McMahon to help him coordinate media interviews at the party convention in Charlotte, and several sources say McMahon also is helping Kennedy with political advice.

Kennedy lives in Connecticut with his wife, Kiki, and two teenage children and runs a New York-based health care services business, but he also could look at a political run in Massachusetts, where his family is still viewed warmly by most voters.

“He’s aware his father always wanted him to serve,” said one Democratic source who is close to Kennedy.

Kennedy’s younger brother, former U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy, also is urging Ted Jr. to make a run for office, sources said.

In an interview with the Herald at the Democratic convention, Ted Jr. did nothing to douse speculation about his political ambitions, saying, “Hopefully one day I’ll have the honor to serve.”

But Kennedy’s decision to use McMahon as an unpaid adviser has raised even more eyebrows among Massachusetts Democrats. McMahon, a former aide to the late senator, told the Herald he did help out Ted Jr. during the convention but would not comment about whether they’ve discussed a political run.

The big question is whether Kennedy will stay in Connecticut or move to Massachusetts, where there is a wide-open governor’s race in 2014 and a possible U.S. Senate seat opening if President Obama wins re-election and names Democratic incumbent John Kerry as his secretary of state.

Even though the family’s political clout has waned since the elder Kennedy’s death, state Democrats have enthusiastically embraced Joseph P. Kennedy III, son of former U.S. Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II, who is making a bid for Congress. Kennedy easily won his primary and faces Republican Sean Bielat in November.

But sources said Ted Kennedy Jr. has “no plans” to leave Connecticut and move to Massachusetts right now. Kennedy is well known in Democratic circles in Connecticut and has been encouraged to run for office there.

Of course, the Kennedys don't go into politics, the serve. You'll see that used consistently whenever Dim operatives or members of the Lap Dog media talk about an ambitious, power-hungry Kennedy going into politics.

Wiki.:
>>Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy, Jr. (born September 26, 1961) is an American entrepreneur, investment banker and lawyer.

If his name were Edward Moore, his possible candidacy would be a joke.

The Kennedys thoroughly disgust me. They are treated as royalty, but their “service” is nothing more than self-aggrandizement and has caused irreparable harm to our land. Their leftist policies of wealth redistribution, all the while insulating themselves from the little people and keeping their fortunes intact, is sickening. I may not live to see it, but I hope there comes a day when the Kennedys in public office is just a rancid footnote in history.
