Gold Star Family: SEAL Team 6 Killed by Rules of Enogagement

"Rep. Gohmert stated that the press conference was scheduled weeks ago, but emphasized how timely this discussion was in light of the attacks on the US embassy in Libya and Cairo.

Billy Vaughn spoke about his son Aaron, who was killed along with 29 others when the CH-47 Chinook helicopter in which he was riding was shot down. The mission was so risky it had to be approved outside of theater.

When the chopper went down, the air support did not fire to take out the enemy because there might be friendlies in the building and the ROE made no allowances for that. The military present at the operation watched helplessly as the chinook went down and landed under heavy fire, killing everyone on it."

British soldiers resort to ‘baiting’ Taliban to beat rules of engagement

Platoon commander describes frustration at being forced to lead troops ‘to get shot at’

Jonathan Owen Monday 27 August 2012

British soldiers in Afghanistan are being forced to act as bait in an attempt to draw the Taliban into opening fire, a serving platoon commander has alleged.

Soldiers are risking their lives to get round strict rules of engagement that allow them to shoot only if they are being attacked or are in “imminent danger”.

The Taliban are increasingly exploiting the rules by hiding weapons in undergrowth near patrol routes – meaning British forces cannot act against them until they actually pick up their guns.

The claims are made by Lieutenant Jimmy Clark , a platoon commander who recently returned from a tour of Afghanistan.

"I am all for pulling all troops out and making each and every area a glass parking lot..."

This should have been the immediate response to this attack. The order should have been get our people out of the area and within and hour come in with an air strike that would make certain not a living organism within a 100 mile radius survived.

Where was our response? We just sat back a let these animals kill this many of our most elite men and we do NOTHING!

And the press is covering this extensively just like they did with Cindy Sheehan.

“Where was our response? We just sat back a let these animals kill this many of our most elite men and we do NOTHING!”

Exactly. Why isn’t this story as big as September 11???? I am still outraged. We did NOTHING! NOTHING.

As the President, Vice-President, and Secretery of State receive the bodies of Americans killed in the attack on the embassy, you can’t help but wonder if this isn’t being choreographed by the same people who managed the Oklahoma City comeback speech given by Bill Clinton.

The ROE are insane and have been for way too long.

Thanks for the ping, xzins.

Probably a good thing that psychopath bigheadfred hasn’t heard about this. We would probably never hear the end.

I found that article at #5 about a month ago and was really frustrated that I couldn’t post it, since they have a “do not post anything” status on Free Republic.

Can you imagine? The ROEs are so bad that a troop puts himself in danger just to give the bad guys a free shot so that our people can take them out. That is insanity.

And, of course, the article points out that the rules come from the overall USA mission commander.

Unfortunately I can imagine it.

Fortunately my veterinarian now has me on birth control.
