The pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future is preparing a new round of television ads in the state of Michigan, breaking the GOP's silence on the airwaves there, according to several sources familiar with the group's plans.
The Romney-boosting group will run commercials in the Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids and Lansing markets between Sept. 19 and Oct. 2, one media-tracking source said. The dollar figure for the buy remains to be seen, but the geographic scope is pretty comprehensive.
ROF will also air ads soon in Wisconsin, according to a second source.
The Romney campaign and its independent-spending allies have had a heavy presence in Wisconsin, where the selection of Paul Ryan as the GOP vice presidential candidate has helped make the state competitive. Republicans have treaded more lightly in Michigan; Romney was born and raised there and hoped very much to put the state in play, but recent polling has shown Obama-Biden with a solid lead.
The ROF buy signals that at least some actors in the 2012 campaign haven't given up on Michigan, and that Romney's super PAC thinks it's worth investing resources in broadening an electoral map that has started to look fairly cramped for the Republican presidential nominee.

YES! Get out there. Obama is looking so weak right now, with this report that the admin knew the attack was coming. We have a chance to knock the Kenyan out for good and save this country.
EXPAND the map into Michigan, then Pennsylvania, then Minnesota via Super Pacs - and get more Sheldon Adelsons to write large checks (their money won’t be worth crap on Nov 7, because Bam-Bam will just confiscate it).
The point: DRAIN OBAMA DRY NOW. He aint got the money to keep up.
Think 4 Counties...
Wayne, Wastenaw, Macomb, Oakland...
That is were the Detwaa TV Channels go w/ or w/out cable.
Romney may own Macomb home of the Reagan Democrats.
He was in Oakland last.
IMHO he gets 2 of the 4 he has a good shot at getting MI as the rest of the State is pretty much Red....
Softing up the defenses to eventually go in for the forward advance is my guess.
These guys are tacticans, I don't think they want to peak to soon and make Obama scramble to get them back, I think they want to secretly demoralize his camp, especially towards the end of the campaign, when they can't mount a defense, they will be to financally, physically and spiritually exhausted to do so.....
I just saw the “time to show up for work” ad. It’s very tough.
If Michigan is truely in play, this might be a repeat of 1972.
Show up for work is the Crossroads ad. This article addresses Restore Our Future, the predominant pro-Romney PAC.
Bottom line: the PACs need more saturation, not less, and wealthy people need to write more checks.
Obama’s advantage with the MSM handmaidens is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
What happen to the promised carpet bombing of Romney ads to follow the two conventions. Obama has set the pace in swing states, spent the summer defining Romney already, out front on the narrative, leaving Mitt reactive, defensive and late!
Yes, the Romney PAC (Crossroads) is out today with a great hard hitting ad. It’s shocking that this election is coming down to Lefty states.
It will be the super pacs that carry the fight to the enemy.
Trouble is the networks and some independent stations will ban any ad that is hard hitting. The pacs will have to air on independent stations and FOX.
They should have started running ads months ago, that way the court challenges against the networks would have been settled by now. I doubt there will be enough time before the election to force the networks to air the Romney pac ads.
Here in Wisconsin, I’m seeing Tammy Baldwin and Barry ads every two seconds. Come on, Restore our Future! You saw fit to crush Mittens conservative competition in the primaries. Show us some of that fierceness when we need it.
Agree Bobalu. ..late to the party.
I watched the new crossroads ad “ time to show up to work” just today...channel 8, Grand Rapids, Mi
Good news. I’ve been wondering why everything was so quiet these past several weeks.
Use the same tactic on Zero that Ronaldus Magnus used on Gorby which resulted in the collapse of the Soviet Union and the fall of the Berlin wall. Outspend them into oblivion.
I love the HUGE Ronmey billboard on 96 in Livingston county, Michigan. I don’t ever remember seeing a McCain billboard here. In fact, McCain had pulled his advertising in Michigan by the early fall, IIRC.
