I don’t think Col. Hunt was in a position to know this for sure, this is speculation on his part. But I admit he’s making a compelling article because he is sharp with his deductive reasoning.
Now who told me Hillary wouldn’t be making these decisions? I’d still put money on Hillary directing the tweets of apology from the Cairo embassy.
They gave Romney hell for something he did not do (Bane outsourced jobs they said), while Obama is outsourcing the security neeeds of the consulate and personel with people who are at war with us, whether the Obamaites admit it or do not admit it.
Romney needs to bring this us again and again and again.
Perimeter security is the responsibility of the host nation police/security forces. The embassy in Tripoli and the consulate in Benghazi do not have a MCESG detachment. Typically, when a new embassy is established, it takes time to grow a new MCESG detachment. In coordination with the State Department, there was discussion about establishing a detachment in Tripoli sometime in the next five years.(bold is mine)
A US embassy and consulate in a country that's just had a revolution don't have military guards. WTF is going through their heads?!!!!
Romney should PLASTER Obama with this revelation (if true) during the Presidential debates!
Guess we know what the old $^%& would do with that 3:00 am call.
Bump
I knew this the day it happened. There were two Marines, and an ex Navy Seal with the ambassador and they all were murdered. I have heard absolutely zero about any deaths of the vermin that attacked the consulate.
Those Marines and the Seal would have gone down fighting and killing. I am sure they went down fighting but had nothing to kill with, because they were not armed.
Have you seen this? (Howie Carr ping)
Hillary will hang on to that movie story come hell or high water and obamas media will play cover.
ping!
You guys are putting blame on the wrong people. It is not anyone in this countries fault. It would not have mattered if there were a company of marines there. We are dealing with fanatics who do not care about life in any way shape or form. It is not even about their religion, the Koran does not teach to kill babies, and women, it is fanatics who have interpreted that way.
These people want war, death and chaos. Even if there were marines there these women would have still found a way to kill our people, they are women, cowards. They will never fight us straight up.
Listen, we are talking the end of the world stuff here, it is us against the Muslims. Anyone who does not understand this is fooling themselves. The real trick is how long do we have, it does not even matter who is president. These things are already set in motion, it is only time now. How long before Iran has a nuke, this is the question we should be asking. We should be helping Israel strike Iran before it is too late...
Yes, it is not hillaries fault but it will be all of our faults if we don’t nuke these Muslim fanatics and be done with it.
The last few days are proof, there is no Arab spring, we need to NUKE em all. NUKE EM.....
Clinton talked tough. But he did not act tough. Indeed, a review of his years in office shows that each time the president was confronted with a major terrorist attack the February 26, 1993, bombing of the World Trade Center, the Khobar Towers attack, the August 7, 1998, bombing of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, and the October 12, 2000, attack on the USS Cole Clinton was preoccupied with his own political fortunes to an extent that precluded his giving serious and sustained attention to fighting terrorism.
At the time of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, his administration was just beginning, and he was embroiled in controversies over gays in the military, an economic stimulus plan, and the beginnings of Hillary Clintons health-care task force. Khobar Towers happened not only in the midst of the presidents re-election campaign but also at the end of a month in which there were new and damaging developments in the Whitewater and Filegate scandals. The African embassy attacks occurred as the Monica Lewinsky affair was at fever pitch, in the month that Clinton appeared before independent counsel Kenneth Starrs grand jury. And when the Cole was rammed, Clinton had little time left in office and was desperately hoping to build his legacy with a breakthrough in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Whenever a serious terrorist attack occurred, it seemed Bill Clinton was always busy with something else.
From the beginning, the administration ran into significant Saudi resistance (the Saudis quickly identified a few low-level suspects and beheaded them, hoping to end the matter there). According to a long account of the case by Elsa Walsh published earlier this year in The New Yorker, FBI director Louis Freeh on several occasions urged the White House to pressure the Saudis for more cooperation. More than once, Walsh reports, Freeh was frustrated to learn that the president barely mentioned the case in meetings with Saudi leaders.
Freeh whose own relations with the White House had deteriorated badly in the wake of the Filegate and campaign-finance scandals became convinced that the White House didnt really want to push the Saudis for more information, which Freeh believed would confirm strong suspicions of extensive Iranian involvement in the attack. Walsh reports that in September 1998, Freeh, angry and losing hope, took the extraordinary step of secretly asking former president George H. W. Bush to intercede with the Saudi royal family. Acting without Clintons knowledge, Bush made the request, and the Saudis began to provide new information, which indeed pointed to Iran.
In late 1998, Walsh reports, Freeh went to national security adviser Sandy Berger to tell him that it appeared the FBI had enough evidence to indict several suspects. Who else knows this? Berger asked Freeh, demanding to know if it had been leaked to the press. Freeh said it was a closely held secret. Then Berger challenged some of the evidence of Iranian involvement. Thats just hearsay, Berger said. No, Sandy, Freeh responded. Its testimony of a co-conspirator . . . According to Walshs account, Freeh thought that Berger . . . was not a national security adviser; he was a public-relations hack, interested in how something would play in the press. After more than two years, Freeh had concluded that the administration did not really want to resolve the Khobar bombing.
