thanks Heff...you do have a good point & reminder, like what happened to the Israel nation during the time of Moses....i just can’t picture it i guess...good post.
I don’t “strut my politics” either. In fact I never bring it up...but if someone else does, I have no qualms about telling them exactly how I feel. I’m not going to sit and listen to all sorts of leftist drivel and act like a punching bag.
I worked in Chicago most of my life. Most co-workers were leftists and they knew exactly how I felt. Again, I never brought it up...but if they did, they heard it from me. Never hurt my career one iota - I happen to be quite good at my job.
It was a little dicey when the accounting woman asked me my opinion on homosexuality and I told her I think it’s a mental disorder. I did so knowing she has a faggot son.
Hey, she asked. If you don’t want to know, don’t ask.
Hank
Just cause your politics never hurt your career does not mean every work place is the same Hank. As you know, leftists are not to be trusted. I can assure you I’m no one’s punching-bag at work. I simply don’t engage in any personal matters with co-workers....politics included.
Too many people are too free with personal info in the work place IMO & I’ve seen that come back and bite them in the ass. I made a point in my 20s to never put myself in that position. I’ve had a great career (over 25 years in one place) by minding my own business & not getting into anyone’s else’s business.
I’m not asked about politics much, and personal stuff even less, but by choice, I just deflect almost all of those questions. It’s just the way I work. It has nothing to do with being gutless. I was somewhat shocked you took my conversation with Sam out of context & went to that place. Lol....I don’t walk around work with my head down worrying about liberals. I just ignore them.
I guess we have a difference in philosophy more than anything else on the way we deal with work place situations. Plus it helps that in general I’m anti-social & have no trouble being distant....especially from people that I’m thrown together at work with.
Well reasoned and stated, Sam.

I think the rally round the flag thing is happening. Obama’s Job Approval is up to almost 50%. It’s been around 47/48 for many months now. 48 is break even, based on the 2004 election.
The silver lining is up 1 or 2 points is not much, as far as bumps of this sort are concerned, so hopefully it will be short-lived.
That's pretty much my take. A small bump that will hopefully fade quickly.
But don't be surprised if we don't get a similar happening in late October or early November. We are not finished with the planned "October Surprises".
