The Video Didn't Do It
The Weekly Standard ^ | September 24, 2012 | Lee Smith

It was bad enough, two years ago, that Defense Secretary Robert Gates called fringe Florida pastor Terry Jones to ask him not to burn copies of the Koran, or last week, that chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Martin Dempsey took his turn to call Jones to ask him to stop publicizing a YouTube video, The Innocence of Muslims. But then on Friday, White House spokesman Jay Carney told the world that the violent protests in Cairo and Benghazi and elsewhere were a “response not to United States policy, and not obviously the administration or the American people,” but were “in response to a video, a film we have judged to be reprehensible and disgusting.” Carney repeated the point for emphasis: “This is not a case of protests directed at the United States at large or at U.S. policy, but in response to a video that is offensive to Muslims.”

Carney’s comments lie outside the range of plausible spin, even by Obama administration standards, and if his bosses believe them—as we fear they do—are simply delusional. But they are not without consequence ...

To tell the American people, "The video did it," is this Administration's equivalent to "Teacher, the dog ate my homework."

Only an absolute fool would believe this, Carney. Why don't you tell us the real reason?

It seems that everyone in the world outside the WH and State Department knows the truth.

Yet, this is the liberal view. The liberal view is that the violence is due to this video, and that, this video should be banned.

The same liberals who praised Piss Christ as “art”, and who do not care how offensive that “art” was to Christians, think we should bend over backwards to avoid offending the sensibilities of Muslims.

And, these liberals can’t imagine that there is anti-American feeling in the world in the Age Of Obama. Obama was supposed to heal all the bad feelings in the world towards America. Obama did his outreach to the Muslim world, and supported Arab spring movements. But the anti-western and anti-American feelings are as strong as ever.

But, we can’t talk about Obama and Hillary foreign policy. Instead, we blame some idiotic You Tube video, rather than realizing that these people have hatred of America and the west, regardless of who is president.

Big Dems spiking the “we killed Osama” football at their convention for a week solid had nothing to do with it, of course.

If Jay Carney had any self-respect, that was his I’m-walking moment, when asked to deliver Bobo’s message of dhimmitude.

I have unsuccessfully searched for several days for the video in question. I would like to see it and judge for my self. I can’t find it. But, it seems every Muslim in Africa and the ME has seen it. Why??

Dems and the Obama DOJ and DHS: The first amendment is as deadly as the second amendment and constitutionalists are the real domestic terrorists! Sexually molest every man woman and child at the airports and throw the vets into mental hospitals in Virgina!

Let’s don’t mention that Dempsey has placed islamists within the ranks of soldiers in Afghanistan and these moderate friends murdered two more soldiers and took out two fighter planes this week.

Let’s all demonize the first amendment after months of demonizing the second amendment as the enemy of the US.

If the reaction of U.S. officials in the face of such an assault is to “condemn .  .  . efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims” (the initial response of the U.S. embassy in Cairo) and to try to silence individual citizens, there is good reason for the terrorists to believe that, with more acts of terror, they will also change American policies. The unpleasant fact is that the Obama administration has encouraged our adversaries to keep at it.

President Obama believed that to maintain “credibility with the Arab states,” as he once told a group of Jewish leaders, he had to put some daylight between ourselves and Israel. His administration sought desperately to “engage” Iran and Syria, two state sponsors of terror that have been killing Americans for decades. The same Joint Chiefs chairman who told journalists in London that he doesn’t want to be “complicit” in any Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities now advises an American citizen to stop alienating Muslim mobs.

No, not idiots, just desperate ... very, very desperate. The alternative is to admit that Obama’s policy toward the Mideast (world?) is a complete failure. So, they are forced to put forth this ridiculous assertion. The assertion, in turn, only has to find agreement, acceptance, unconcern, inattention or willing suspension of disbelief in 50.01% or more of voters in states that equal or exceed 270 electoral votes.
