There are three of us then because my husband hates it because of the crying and dying. If it’s on he will turn it off. LOL

In his stand up routine, Jimmy “JJ” Walker said he auditioned for the Waltons. He said it was for the part of Boy Boy.

Has it been 40 years since… Dirty Harry starring Clint Eastwood and the God Father starring Marlon Brando were hot at the movies; the song “I’d love you to want me” by Lobo went to No. 2 on the Billboard chart; Richard M. Nixon was re-elected President of the United States

Same thing with MASH but I'd rather wast time with MASH re runs than with the cutsey and maudlin crap that was the Waltons.

If you don’t watch anything with Leftists you probably don’t consume any film culture at all. LOL ‘A Face in the Crowd’ is an American classic...written by Budd Schulberg who testified to HUAC as a friendly witness. He also wrote ‘On the Waterfront’.

Yea I remember the Waltons. Having seen Spencer’s mountain how could it miss? It had a great beginning, with a respectful showing of a depression-era family that actually displayed the sort of common values normal people had.

I also remember how it morphed in later years to become a shill for the dhimmicrat party until the last season was unwatchable.

The Walton’s - another good idea run into the ground.

I do like The Waltons. It wasn’t mawkish and overly sentimental, like Little House. But WTH with Grandpa? If you go to Will Geer’s Wiki page, you can follow a link and see his boyfriend in a dress.

The world’s upside down...

Seemed like everyone turned up on Love Boat at some point in time.

Ha! Exactly! Came on at 3 or 3:30. Bozo the clown came on the one other channel that we got and my brother always wanted to watch that because Dark Shadows was too scary. We loved Dark Shadows!

Yeah and when Mary went blind it was really depressing and I didn’t like it when episodes where Ma and Pa went on trips to town.

I liked Mary. I don’t know how she grew up to be in real life but I know Laura turned out to be a liberal. I was really disappointed in Laura because she was my favorite until she ruined her whole image.

I was so sad to read about Will Geer’s real life last year on an FR thread.

John Walton, Ralph Waite, has a current role on my soap “Days of Our Lives”. He looks very good “for his age”, as they say. He’s been on Days for several years, on and off.

great thread...thank you, thank you, thank you.

even though it is a generation later, my college-age girls understand mommy's "fascination" with The Waltons. (ok...so they refer to the early Elizabeth as "The Souless Ginger"...but they still get it!) I have sent a screen shot of many scenes to my girls, almost like a meme. the Baldwin sisters, Olivia, etc.

This show brings me back to safe times. I remember my family watching it on Thursday nights. We had five kids in my family, so having the seven of us gathered together is a feeling that kids today won't necessarily understand.

It was before VCRs, DVDs, or any kind of recording capabilities. If you missed it......well, you missed it. Had to wait for a rerun.

Times like that cannot be repeated. Times like that will never be again. We live in a world of instant gratification, recordings, buying the series either on DVD or iTunes, etc.

sometimes.....i weep for generations beyond mine.

Again, thank you for this.
