“There is a BIG difference between ‘protectionism’ and sending jobs and wealth to our enemies”
Are your argument wires crossed? We know that. I think you mean to say there’s a difference between bad protectionism and whatever it is you advocate.
“free trade should be fair trade”
Fair trade is protectionism. Free trade is free trade.
America’s day in the sun is no more.
You are correct. I have myself, after intense study, have come to the same conclusion.

“Even with our resources autarchy would produce what they call a vampire economy, in which we feed off preexisting capital until we die.”
And sending all that capital, industrial jobs and technology to Communist China is healthy? I think our interests would have been better served elsewhere.
Its is our problem if we are competing with slave labor. Advocating slave labor for the US? I believe in free trade but only with nations on par with us in standard of living and freedom and that are not seeking to harm us. China fails both of those tests.
The Chinese use of rural population as a vast labor pool is more reminiscent of Nazi use of foreign and slave labor to achieve peak industrial output in late 1944.
As far as not doing business with China, didn't an enforced policy of not doing business with adversaries during the cold war work out fairly well?
