Col. David Hunt: "State Department just allowed our guys to get killed"
Townhall.com ^ | September 16, 2012 | Bob Beauprez

If you weren't already uncontrollably furious over the debacle in Libya that led to the death of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other embassy personnel, this is likely to send you over the edge.  From Breitbart News:

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Fox News military analyst Colonel David Hunt laid the blame for the murder of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans at the Benghazi, Libya American mission on Hillary Clinton and the State Department:

"The State Department just allowed our guys to get killed. If you approve no bullets in guns for the mission security guards and an outhouse for a mission, you’re inviting it."

Earlier, on Howie Carr's radio show Thursday, Colonel Hunt said that the American mission at Benghazi "was like a cardboard building, there wasn't even bullet proof glass." In addition, Hunt said the security guards inside the mission didn't have bullets:

Howie Carr: They weren't allowed to have bullets, is that correct?

Colonel Hunt: That's true. They were private security. The rules of engagement were ridiculous.

The report continues:

According to Hunt, the debacle at the American mission in Benghazi is directly the result of Obama's new policies. "The policy of the Obama administration led to this," he said.

"It was the policy of the Obama administration to have a low profile in Libya. That's why the rules of engagement were approved by the Secretary of State to have no Marines at Benghazi, and to have an American contractor hire Libyan nationals to provide security there. The rules were they couldn't have ammunition."

"Obama may not have known the details of the State Department Rules of Engagement for Libya, but his Chief of Staff and National Security Advisor would have. The Secretary of State absolutely would have."

Read entire extensive Breitbart report here

Also please note that the Townhall Finance column NightWatch first drew attention to inadequate diplomatic security on September 6th after an attack in Pakistan:

US officials praised Pakistani security for its swift response. The questions NightWatch poses are how the attackers knew the timing, route and identity of vehicles containing US officials.

Usually there are three answers to the NightWatch questions. First is the attackers got lucky. Second is that incredibly incompetent US diplomatic security that puts American officials in Pakistan at constant risk. The third answer is insider dealings that betray US movement plans and routes … which also signifies incredibly inept US diplomatic security.

It is long past time for accountability. If State Department diplomatic security cannot protect the US Consulate in Peshawar, it must be closed.

With Libyan Nationals there as guards ,having no ammunition was probably a good thing.
The Libyans would probably have turned their weapons on the Americans working there.
Certainly it is reported that they pointed out what building the Americans were in.

We haven’t got a State Department as such any more. Just a clubhouse for liberals and apologists.
We don’t have Intelligence Agencies either apparently.

No, not with Hussein’s lackeys at the helm, we don’t.

Yeah, Hunt's a northeastern Lib as far as I can tell. Plus the ambassador was a believer in the Obama/Clinton foreign policy. The only victims are probably the security people.

He is from Maine and often guest-hosts for local talk jock Howie Carr. He has repented his decisions often and loudly on a 50,000 Watt station in a major metropolitan area (Boston).

I find it hard to respect the judgment of ANYONE who voted for Obama.

If it is so dangerous in Libya, we had to keep a low profile, why are we there? Why did we have an embassy and a consulate there?

-——Why did we have an embassy and a consulate there?-—

We have American companies doing business there. We have Americans coming and going. Consulates promote commercial interests. With commercial interests consulates follow

What a wonderful way to politically whack Hillary (from BHO’s point of view).

Let this seep out and she becomes toxic allowing someone else more in tune with BHO to run for office in 2016/2020.

Change the problem from slavery to statism and Abe had it right 150 years ago..

You initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. You now have two Americas. In my opinion, it will not cease until a crisis shall have been reached and passed. "A house divided against itself cannot stand." I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half statist and half free; I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.

It seems to me that the military is going to have to choose sides soon.

Do you have any insight into why he supported him in the first place? Was he fooled by the empty rhetoric or does he dislike McCain? I know a retired general, a conservative, who loathes McCain for various military related reasons.

I think he’s mush headed and was fed up with Bush, who, let’s face it, was less than optimal. My wife, who is reflexively pro-American, pro-military could not stand McCain. While there was no way she would possibly ever have voted for Obama, she cast a very reluctant vote for McCain. I think Bush-McLame really turned a lot of conservative voter off. (Ya think?)

I think a lot of Obama voters were just mad at the Republicans. And really, who could blame them? They just didn’t think Obama would be half as bad as he really was.

McLame would have been a terrible president, but vastly superior to what we have now.

Hate to say it, but I knew the minute this happened that Chris Steven's blood was (somehow) on Obama and Hillary's hands.

Hillary may have given the order for no bullets, but one has to remember that Obama appointed Hillary, and Obama is responsible for Ambassador Chris Steven's death also.

An INCOMPETENT Obama appointed an INCOMPETENT Secretary of State who made an INCOMPETENT decision which placed AMERICAN LIVES at risk.

Ambassador Chris Steven's blood is on Obama and Hillary's hands. This is Barack Hussein Obama's Jimmy Carter Moment.

That's just FACT.
