Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says he will seek a court order to end a teachers strike set to enter its second week.
Emanuel said the strike is illegal under state law.

Does Illinois have a law such as Taft-Hartley, which can order strikers back to work? Does the federal law on the subject cover them? Is Taft-Hartley still on the books?
I hate to ask this, but if it’s still on the books, would the Obama administration enforce it? Yes it has come to this, where we wonder if this administration will enforce the laws on the books.
Obama leads from behind...
State law. Not federal.
Now Rahm says something is illegal.
Union’s should be allowed to strike until they either destoy the business or institution they are contracted with or get everything they want for free. /s
sounds like trouble in RAT paradise
“When your enemy is in the process of destroying himself, stay out of his way.”
I’m hoping for resistance, tear gas, and riots. That should be fun.
They should fire them just for the signs I’ve seen and the fact that they are using kids in their protests.
“Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says he will seek a court order to end a teachers strike set to enter its second week. Emanuel said the strike is illegal under state law.”
Wellllll, if it is so illegal, then why didn’t Mayor Rahm try to nip this illegal insurrection in the bud and file a court request to order the illegal strikers back to work ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE STRIKE? Perhaps he hoped appeasement would satisfy the illegal strikers, and when it didn’t, THEN he decides to get tough. Wouldn’t want to offend the powerful teachers’ unions, now would we, Rahm?
If they're the "vast majority" how is this relevant or anything? Are racists in the school system keeping these "minority" kids down?
In fact 44% of Chicago public school students are Latino, 42% are Black. Just under 9% are white. So, again, why is race claimed as a factor?
Over 60% of staff are Latino or Black. Over half of teachers are non-white. Who is suppressing these children?
I can see how income might be a factor as 87% of students are from "low-income families," but what's RACE got to do with it, AP?
I look at their $74,839 annual average teacher salary--Top 20% of incomes in the United States--and have NO sympathy whatsoever for these greedy, inept, exploitative monsters abusing another generation of children in the name of 'education.'
I loathe the exploitation of children on the picket line.
These kids probably believe mommy is part of the fabled 99% when, in fact, on average she hauls in more than 4 out of 5 Americans and does so for rank incompetence at a part-time job. It is SICK.
The Left always wants to talk "fairness," where's the fairness in that?
Well, at least the Pretty Dancer is not letting the crisis he created go to waste.
So last week it wasn’t illegal, and now it IS illegal?
Why didn’t you do this last week, Michael Corleone?
Emanuel said the strike is illegal under state law.—
Wow now he cares if something is illegal?
Anyone else believing that?
Me neither.
