China and other Asian countries could end up at war over territorial disputes if governments keep up their 'provocative behaviour', US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta says.
Speaking to reporters before arriving in Tokyo on a trip to Asia, Panetta appealed for restraint amid mounting tensions over territorial rights in the East China Sea and the South China Sea.
'I am concerned that when these countries engage in provocations of one kind or another over these various islands, that it raises the possibility that a misjudgment on one side or the other could result in violence, and could result in conflict,' Panetta said, when asked about a clash between Japan and China.
'And that conflict would then have the potential of expanding.'
The Pentagon chief's trip coincides with an escalating row between Asia's two largest economies over an archipelago in the East China Sea administered by Tokyo under the name Senkaku and claimed by China under the name Diaoyu.

Starting a shooting war with Japan could be just the distraction (besides what's going on in the ME, along with our elections) the Chinese need to annex Taiwan.

In 2005 China passed a law making it a capital offense for any Chinese leader to negotiate the territorial rights to any land that it claims.
That’s right, a death sentence for even talking about it.

I can guarantee one thing. Obozo doesn’t know anything about this prospective international incident. He has no knowledge there is even a problem.

Capture Taiwan, distract the crazies from their Everest of bad debt, catch Hussein while his claws are full...
Interesting times, indeed....

*Their* provocative behavior??? Anyone with an IQ higher than 70 knows that there's only one nation engaging in such behavior. It ain't the Philippines...and it ain't Taiwan...Vietnam...or Japan. It's a country that, for reasons unknown, feels the need to include the words “People's Republic” in its name.

He has no knowledge there is even a problem. Are you suggesting that his caddy is endangering world peace by withholding this information?

You have that right. China is pulling a Galtieri. Snaffling the Senkaku islands will distract from the “secret debt bomb”. Taiwan would also be at risk. If O-Zero was responsible, he would move naval forces to international waters around Taiwan immediately, and have Andersen on standby.

Obama in four years has brought the world to war. What a great leader. /sarcasm

I wonder what Huntsman, the “China Expert”, thinks about all this.
Maybe he’s waiting for Romney to order the wrong combination of Chinese takeout.

So now they got old Frequent Flyer Leon out there trying to take the heat off Obama and Hillary. Hey Leon! Here’s an old number Hillary used to sing. I changed the words a little.
“Four dead in Lib-ee-yah! Four dead in Lib-ee-yah!”
