Correct. The MSM starts out from the point of “when did you stop beating your wife” and gets more aggressive. That doesn’t mean we cannot refute them, but it isn’t easy.

Couple that with the entire government school complex and you’ve got a lot of reeducating to do.

I love Sowell’s writing, I think he’s wrong on this score:

a) Paul Ryan is fantastically articulate and will do well for conservatives in this season. He can make a fool out of the left very easily.

b) Romney is a pit bull in a debate and will make mincemeat out of Obunga. He’s too soft on the opposition because he wants to be “polite” - but his ability to articulate is far better than McCain’s was.

Romney needs to sharpen the argument and tie Obama’s egregious taxing, spending and regulating, his killing of Keystone and his oil drillign moratorium, etc. to our 8% unemplyoment and worst recovery since WWII.

Here's a free bone for Romney:

You kind of have to ask yourself why a Republican challenger is having such a difficult time making the case that Obama is the absolute worst president in American history, when there is such an overwhelming body of evidence to prove it.

Our nominee should have been running away with this thing already.

Very good point.

If you visit the news websites or liberal blogs, you often see the kneejerk excuse “It’s all Bush’s fault.”
I go out of my way to remind people that Democrats won control of Congress in 2007 and 2008. As in:

Excuse #1: Blame Bush.
Problem: DEMOCRATS ran Congress from 2007, so Pelosi, Reid, and Obama as well were co-pilots as the economy crashed.

There is another excuse to debunk ...

Excuse #2: Those darned Republicans wont pass any bills.
Problem: First, the Democrats had the White House ,Senate and House in 2010 and 2011. THEY PASSED THEIR AGENDA! From obamacare to Frank-Dodd, $1 trillion in more spending, Stimulus, then Stimulus II... we were supposed to have ‘recovery summer in 2010, remember? So how can a bill in 2012
be the holdup, when we DID pass bills.
And BTW the last JOBS bill was passed - in March 2012 with bipartisan support. But wait there is more! Republicans have passed almost 2 dozen jobs bills out of the House AND DEMOCRAT HARRY REID IS OBSTRUCTING THE REPUBLICAN JOBS BILLS! So this is blowing a big fat hole in the whole silly liberal narrative which is a 180 degree opposite of the real truth.

I do a better job taking down leftists than our elected Republicans and those at the RNC.
I do miss the days Newt Gingrich ran the House and had Republicans sharpen their debate skills on the House Floor.
Watching them on CSPAN was enlighting.

>> The first time I saw Chris Christie on television, shortly after he became governor of New Jersey, my immediate reaction was, "My Gosh! A Talking Republican!" <<

The reaction of the Christie bashers, the first time they saw him on television, shortly after he became governor of New Jersey, was, "Oh cr@p! All that stuff we said during the primary about how he'd be 'no different' from Corzine is being proven false RIGHT NOW! We better come up with another smear to use against him, and fast!"

They laid low for a few months, then relentlessly carpet-bombed the internet with "Christie is a pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, socially liberal Republican" lies.

They actually had a large measure of success with these lies, as people outside of NJ who didn't follow Christie's positions believed the "socially liberal RINO" meme. Then word began to spread nationally that Christie had been vocally speaking at pro-life rallies, shut down Planned Parenthood in NJ, and vetoed a gay marriage bill that got to his desk without blinking an eye. As of a few monthes ago, people were no longer buying the "socially liberal pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage Christie" smear.

The reaction of the Christie bashers, when he was chosen to speak the GOP convention was "Oh cr@p! Nobody believes our "socially liberal Christie" talking points anymore. We better come up with another smear to use against him, and fast!"

They laid low for a few months, then rolled out the latest one, just in time for the GOP convention... "pro-Sharia law, Muslim-loving Christie" (he visited a mosque once in life and appointed one Muslim to a judgeship in NJ, making him "pro-Muslim")

They'll keep relentlessly pushing this one, until Christie is shown going to bat for Jews so many times that the lie no longer works and they need a new "reason" while he's evil RINO scum, or until they finally turn NJ voters against him and the union thugs are back in power there.

Can Republicans Talk?

Of course not. That's why they hire people like Karl (The Architect) Rove. He can't really talk either, except to Republicans who spend campaign money.

It is ironic that Republicans are supposed to be the "Party of Business" and they cannot handle what is in essence just simple market communication. As far as PR goes, forgetaboutit.

And don't go blaming the "Hostile MSM." That's simply a given market condition. Of course, the incredible ignorance of the average dumbed down American voter makes this communication business very difficult.

It is astounding that 50% of the voters take Obama seriously. Does this Obama guy look right to you? Can you actually understand what he says? Apparently those voters in the double-digit IQ camp hear him loud and clear.
