Obama's Four Gallons of Gas Minimum Mandate
Fox News ^

Posted on 09/18/2012 9:33:08 AM PDT by tapatio

The latest mandate handed down from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is so ridiculous, even I was shocked. The EPA has now mandated how much gasoline you must buy at certain gas stations. Say hello to the Obama Administration’s four gallon minimum.

I had the same thing happen to me...the pump shut off before I got my three cans filled (and car). I noticed the pump was at exactly $75, so I assumed that was the trigger.

I think people have the wrong idea here. They are trying to PROTECT your lawn mower from getting damaged when you end up trying to buy one gallon of E10 and end up unintentionally buying something between E10 and E15 by getting a “hoseful” of the last user’s E15 purchase. It’s a consumer protection thing and not a mandate to make you buy more E15.

Yeah, I think my tank is 3 gallons, so WTH am I supposed to do now? Oh, I get it...I fill my five gallon cans that have the new spill-proof spouts.

I’ve used the new spill-proof cans three times now, and SPILLED MORE GAS IN THOSE THREE INSTANCES THAN I SPILLED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE (I’m 50). Not an exaggeration...whoever mandated the new spouts should be shot dead. You can’t buy the old ones any more, but they’re fetching $50 on Ebay (that’s telling).

Not one station in Houston or the surrounding communities.

Wait till you see what the cost of ethanol-free fuel is!

It's sky high with or without ethanol, but as long as I could afford it, I'd pay extra for gasoline without it - just to thumb my nose at the tree huggers.

Not many places in Texas but if you head north and cross the Red river there is plenty of "real" gasoline available.

LOL! Not very practical, even from West Texas.

This story is a good one to post to Facebook & other media, to drive a wedge in between your lib friends (if you have some left, as I do) and their beloooooooved Obama. They might not be so thrilled at being micromanaged on issues like this!

Carry a 5 gallon can with you at all times.

This will affect motorcycle riders hard. Also mopeds.

I don’t think many of those vehicles even hold 4 gallons.

Find gasoline with NO Ethanol at Find Ethanol-Free Gasoline Station.

Ethanol does damage to your engine.

There are no stations within 100 miles of me serving pure-gas. The closest is La Grange or Port Lavaca. I’ve got an 8 month old Ariens 46” 22 HP riding lawn tractor, and it’s worked fine on the E10 (so far).

Then you shouldn’t be using pumps that mix E15 and E10. The four gallon minimum isn’t some vile Obama plan (although the E15 might be), but a measure put in place to prevent your engine from being ruined by a mix pump overdosing it on ethanol.

It’s real, it’s just misunderstood. Ethanol is bad for small engines, and the four gallon minimum is to ensure that residual ethanol in the line doesn’t kill your lawnmower, motorcycle, scooter, weed eater ect.

Mix pumps mix gasoline from multiple sources. Typically, when you see three grades of fuel on a pump, the pump is drawing from two tanks and mixing the fuel to create a third grade that is not individually stored.

The problem is the gas still left in the line. If you fill your weed eater up with gas using the low ethanol grade that ‘s safe for it, but the guy before you filled up his Camry with the high ethanol gas, you might pump so little that you really got the high ethanol that was still in the hose.
