Jimmy Carter's unemployed grandson has said he helped leak damaging video footage of Mitt Romney in retaliation for the Republican's habit of maligning his grandfather on the campaign trail.

.......As the story exploded, Mr Carter emailed his 87-year-old grandfather to tell him he was behind the revelation that was rocking Mr Romney's campaign. The former president replied "James: This is extraordinary. Congratulations! Papa."

The younger Mr Carter was only three when his grandfather was pushed out of the White House by Ronald Reagan in the 1980 election but said that he was still angered by Republicans who accused the former president of weakness.

"It gets under my skin - mostly the weakness on the foreign policy stuff," Mr Carter told NBC News. "I just think it's ridiculous. I don’t like criticism of my family."

He described himself as a "partisan Democrat" and said: "My motivation is to help Democrats get elected. If there is anything I can find in any race, I try to do that." .....

President Jimmy and First Lady Rosalynn Carter entertained some friends from Georgia on the South Lawn
of the White House on August 7, 1980. Their yawning grandson, James Earl Carter IV, sits on the president's lap.

I don’t think this is very damning. He admitted this to Joe the Plumber, but he was still elected.

Jimmy Carter couldn’t get hostages released, but his Grandson can release a video. What a family.

Mr. Carter, it might be wise to postpone the early celebrations...it’s a l o n g way from over and you might end up drinking prune juice instead of champagne.

This grandson must be from the Carter kid we never heard anything about. Poor little Amy had to take the brunt of public attention.

This isn’t going to be Romney’s macaca moment. He will fight back, and turn it around on the losers.

I wonder what dictator Jimmy Carter has praised this week (other than the wannabe one in the White House).

The father of this unemployed “researcher.”

James (Chip) Carter III

Inducted 2001

“Chip” Carter, son of former President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter, became President of The Friendship Force two years ago. During his father’s presidency, he represented the United States in 26 foreign countries. With his rich experience in international personal relationships, “Chip” has expanded the organization’s role through managing trips to many foreign countries. The Friendship Force specializes in short-term group homestay programs. Friendship Force “Ambassadors” travel from their home countries to foreign countries, where they are welcomed into the homes of local hosts. After sharing experiences of friendship, personal relationships are established across the barriers that separate people, and differences of language, race, creed or politics become less important. A 1992 nominee for The Nobel Peace Prize, The Friendship Force is active in more than 350 communities in 60 countries. Nearly a half-million volunteer Ambassadors and Hosts have participated through 3300 exchanges, touching the lives of more than two million people, exemplifying The Friendship Force motto: “A world of friends is a world of peace.”

You have to be a determined loser to be a grandson of a past president and be unemployed.

Well of course Carter wants Obama reelected... The longer Obama's in office, the less horrid Carters record, and less inept Carter looks.

Carter is no longer the worst President of the US. He can start cheering, "I'm Number Two!"

I wonder how it happened that a partisan Democrat had access to Romney’s private fundraiser.

Amy Carter married Jim Wentzel Sept. 1, 1996, in Plains, Ga. They had met the summer before
when she was working in an Atlanta bookstore managed by Wentzel.
