We’re winning series: We’re killing them softly.(IL)

Don Gwinn began his presentation with a rousing analysis of the state of gun control in America today.

He said a headline in The Onion summed things up nicely: “Obama gives bold speech on gun control, alone, quietly, in his office with the lights off”.

Gwinn cited Tom Shafer’s boiling anger at the mainstream media’s clarion call for gun control after a left-wing kook attempted to assassinate Gabby Giffords.

Gwinn reminded everyone what happened in 1999 after Columbine. The Million Mom March sprang up overnight and George Soros and his allies poured tons of money into that and other gun control organizations. And they still failed.

It’s killing them that we’re not seeing a repeat, but there’s no Soros money to fund it.

The Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence had a Springfield office. They’ve closed it and they fired the downstate lobbyist, Chris Boyster. That’s a good indication of how things are going.

Gwinn realizes there is some frustration out there about Governor Quinn winning reelection, about how things aren’t changing very quickly. But imagine how the gun haters feel! They’re just beside themselves.

They’ve got a dwindling number of mouthpieces and if it weren’t for the six-figure salaries, they would have no one to write blogs, produce so-called studies which are little more than glorified Google searches and submitting screeds to the Huffington Post.

Those few people are doing the things that the grassroots on our side does for free, everyday, in overwhelming numbers!

The anti-gun model is just unsustainable.

We really are running circles around them right now, pushing and crushing them and there’s just nothing they can do about it.

It’s the people like us, who are coming out to a buffet once a month, talking to each other, volunteering, spending time at gun shows and meetings, and talking to our legislators. That’s our big advantage.

We don’t need to pay people thousands and thousands of dollars to talk to their legislators. We just ask them to do it and they do it in huge numbers!

Keep up the good work and let’s continue the march of freedom in Illinois.

As a general rule, organizations of “against mostly-anything” depend on one thing - money. Money from gullible do-gooders who largely let emotions rule their lives devoid of common sense; money from foundations and government for studies, ‘research’, and ‘outreach’; and support from media.

Right now, gullible do-gooders don’t have much money because they are secretly trying to figure out how to keep it away from Obama, and the foundations and government are pretty much cash-poor, too. Lastly, the ‘media’ are too damned busy trying to pump Obama’s lame butt up by auguring Romney’s terrible campaign, blah blah blah

With the continued failure of the justice, excuse me, judicial system to incarcerate violent criminals for the extended periods of time they have earned, even liberals have gotten their opportunity to become sick of being a victim.

It is a shame that they have had to see it from this perspective, rather than one that has a healthy respect for the 2A under its own virtues, but nonetheless, it is a start.

There's a couple other perspectives that might be in play.

One is that anyone might find themselves the object of a "sudden jihad syndrome". Another is that some people may realize that the entitlement economy can't last. There WILL be millions of really angry liberals when the cash flow ends, as it must. If you want to keep what is yours in the middle of the entitlements meltdown, you need to be prepared to use force.
