The lawyer for Trayvon Martins parents harshly criticized efforts by George Zimmermans attorneys to obtain the school records and Facebook information for the deceased 17-year-old high school student, saying they were irrelevant to the case.
Zimmermans lawyers are attempting to assassinate Trayvon Martins character, said Benjamin Crump, in an interview with BET.com. Whatever Trayvon had on his Facebook page or whatever was in his school records have nothing to do with why Zimmerman shot him.

Yea, kinda like, “a neighbor reported something illegal is going on in your home, can we come in and take a look around?”
or
” Sir, do you realize how fast you were going? Can I take a look in your vehicle?”
or
how bout running late for your flight, “ excuse me sir, spread your legs, we need to pat your boy’z down, then walk through the naked scanner for us please!”
or
“What are you doing on this road this time of night? Where are you going, where are your papers? Going to pat you down for your and our safety...against the car!”
And how long have you worked for the DEA?
I don’t work for the DEA.......DOD actually.
The rights of a man fighting a charge of homicide to a fair trial and facing the possibility of years in prison trump the (obviously very low) expectation of privacy of a FaceBook user - and especially of a dead FaceBook user.
In none of your examples was there any urgent motivation on the part of the law enforcement officials approaching the need of the Defendant in the case at hand.
Regards,
“But when civil rights leaders said they wanted equality, they really meant preferential treatment.”
I think it goes one step further than you suggest. Civil rights leaders want revenge on all white people!
>>You are comparing apples and oranges.<<
You’re right. It’s just that statement, “If you don’t have anything to hide...” that’s always put a bur under my saddle.
>>Believe it or not Ive had very similar experiences to the ones you have listed and really didn’t have a problem with it because I wasn’t doing anything wrong<<
Oh, please share!
I for one would never ever...ever give up my right to privacy and constitutional protection on the grounds of....well, I’ve got nothing to hide.
This inevitably leads to abuses by bad elements within good agencies. Hint hint, TSA.
Abusing the rights of the majority because of the action(s) of a very tiny minority.
Yes. I’d agree. They want revenge for ‘injustices’, real and most importantly, imagined.
This inevitably leads to abuses by bad elements within good agencies.
maybe, but it’s never happened to me.
Now we have biometric databases at the local level, facial recognition, drones flying over our skies, TSA groping us, DHS militarizing our local law enforcement agencies, EPA regulation controlling what you drive or eat, xray vans roaming the highways, patriot act allowing warrantless wiretaps/probing through your financial affairs, NDAA stating warrantless/indefinite detentions of American citizens, the watering down of Posse Comitatus in recent years, checks and balances that safeguard the division of federal powers being ignored, feds mandating your healthcare, highway blockades checking for everything from insurance to registration to questioning your citizenship....even American citizens.
These were once topics of conspiracy...not any more!!!
Fight for your freedoms and privacy or one day you'll wake up without them completely.
I thought this thread was about George Zimmermans attorneys requesting trayvon’s school records and Facebook information.
Sorry...your right. Steppin off my soap box.
No problem, I appreciate your passion for the Constitution.
May I ask if you agree or disagree that GZ’s defense attorneys should be allowed to obtain the school records and Facebook info?
Example: FB postings that reveal gang affiliation, boasting of past instances of assaults and or criminal behavior. School disciplinary records that may indicate TM has a history of violence should be a part of GZ’s defense.
The guy (TM) was a thug in my opinion. I guess my position is to take care not to run rough shot over constitutional rights.
