Some people don’t love their children like we do.
Yes, she basically arranged for her own daughter to be kidnapped. So, she should be charged as an accessory along with the rest of the gang.
Based upon various investigative reports I have seen, being kidnapped is the least of her worries. Many of these girls are forced to use drugs (with the intent to get them addicted), then used as sex workers, they are then bought/sold to various individuals/groups/gangs and are forced into a life of prostitution.
So, when Mom finally comes up with the cash, she'll likely get a drug-addicted, pregnant and damaged daughter with an in-depth life experience in the field of prostitution. Ain't illegal smuggling grand?
I recently read a good novel by Robert Crais called Taken. The story is fiction but based upon the reality of how criminal cartel kidnap “pollos” for ransom. Pollos get stolen by other cartels, abused, and often killed when the criminals believe they have extracted all the money they can out of relatives.
It’s just awful. The Mexican cartels are a clear and present danger.

Houston Police/Texas Rangers form a quik task force with Nicaraguan National Police and Interpol.
They track down and arrest the smugglers/kidnappers. They ship the victims, the smugglers and the mother daughter team back to Nicaragua where the bad guys get convicted and sent to prison and MotherDaughter live happily ever after in Nicaragua.
I read a similar story a few years ago, in that case the daughter was only four years old. The mother and daughter took difference routes, the mother walking through the back country and the daughter coming in by (I believe) a car. The trafficker decided to pry more money from the mother by threatening to keep the child. The little girl was also molested, hit and told that she would not see her mother again. The mother was also told that she would never see her daughter again.
Finally the kidnapper was caught and taken to court. Does anyone want to guess what sentence the judge gave this guy? Take a guess. Let’s see if anyone can come close to guessing what the sentence was.

That would be nice. Of course the smugglers’ confederates would kill them, which is why we give trafficking victims legal residence, put victims in quotes if you like.
Enslaved hair braider, prostitute, domestic servant...welcome to the US. There aren’t asylum grounds if your own government doesn’t protect you from crime in your own country or from persecution by private parties, but once you hit US soil and are the victim of a continuing trafficking crime in the US, you’ve got your ticket.
The going rate for coyotes is $8,000 to $12,000 to bring someone illegally to the US.
For this the illegal immigrant endures harsh conditions, possible kidnapping, death, etc. to arrive here without papers and face possible capture and deportation.
Thus why cannot the govenrment offer a legal means of immigration for say $15,000 up front and $1,000 per year renewal, which offers temporary residency and temporary work permit. No access to benefits.

That book was made into a fairly decent action/drama movie (also called “Taken”) with Liam Neeson in the starring role as the rescuer. (didn’t read the book, so I don’t know how different the movie was from the book).
Hmm. Having said that, according to IMDB the movie wasn’t based on the book, it was original.
The story line was similar. Foreigner’s kidnap american girls on travel, not for ransom but to sell them as sex slaves, after drugging them up. Father is a former operative and goes after the kidnappers. Violence ensues.
In fact, the book is much more recent than the movie, so clearly the movie wasn’t inspired by the book.
Also, there was another book called “Taken”, which was about a baby kidnapped in Pittsburgh.
Just saw the trailer for Taken 2 - Electric Boogaloo. Looks good! Neeson's character in the first one was great. Total badass.
