Officials: Iranian Quds Force poses threat to U.S. homeland

Iran’s extremist militias and their proxies were behind a recent string of terror attacks against Israeli diplomatic targets around the globe and might seek to strike the United States, U.S. counterterrorism officials said Wednesday.

“We have seen an uptick in operational activity by the Quds Force over the last year or so,” National Counter-Terrorism Center Director Matthew G. Olsen told a hearing of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Mr. Olsen said the Quds Force, the elite division of the Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps responsible for operations abroad, “poses a threat beyond the immediate [Middle East] region,” including to the U.S. homeland.

He cited the federal prosecution last year of a senior member of the force for involvement in a failed plot to kill the Saudi ambassador to the U.S. by bombing a Washington restaurant.

Quds Force operatives had been involved in anti-Israeli attacks and plots as far afield as India and Georgia, he said.

As the article pertains to the United States, it is not true? Why? Because on November 4, 2008 tha voters of America went to the polls and by a majority vote put the messiah of the known world and universe in the White House. According to the American media, he would raise the dead, make the blind see, heal the sick, and cure all diseases. He could also walk on water and soar unaided through the air.The entire world universally loved, adored, and worshipped.

Perhaps reloading the CSPAN site will fix it. I’m watching the video as I type.

Am I alone in despising the term “Homeland” to describe the territory of our great Republic?

No, you are not. I despise it (and suspect the reasons behind it) as well.

In previous years, it was foreign tyrannies who used such terms to get popular patriotic support behind their onerous regimes. Why we are using the same term is beyond me.

It stinks. It is unAmerican.

Apparently Peggy Noonan sounded the alarm about the un-American/fascist/totalitarian nature of the phrase - but I was unable to locate the exact article - just an article describing the article.

We are a nation of principles, not of a particular geography. A naturalized American can come from ‘the old country’ and have a Homeland - but we have never popularly used the phrase to describe our nation until now - and I do NOT embrace the change!

It's going to happen here, no way to stop all the attempts - one or more will succeed.

And when that happens, we'll get PATRIOT Act III and IV passed, and "papers please" will become the norm in everyday life. Your travels, internet access, and purchases will be restricted. Buying guns or ammo? That will be a distant memory.

Don't worry, it will happen. Obama and his idiot supoorters want a war with Syria and Iran, the only two major Shiite-led countries around. Once they can topple them and replace them with the Muslim Brotherhood, then you can start looking at a caliphate.
