No, that's par for the course for them....surrender and run up the white flag...then collaborate.

French embassies and schools in 20 countries will close in case of riots after Friday prayers.
That's a quote from the subtitled video. Note how no clarification is necessary about which religion's prayers the French are concerned with. Yet that obese clown had the unmitigated gall to call the Hebdo spokesperson a coward.

“I think this is the fastest France has ever surrendered.”

After the events of the last week, (and our governments response to those events) I don’t think we are in any position to mock the French for being cowardly anymore.

It is the US that is peeing in its pants even after they killed our personnel.

What I have found particularly disturbing is the role of the US Government in actively trying to suppress this video putting pressure on private citizens and corporations. The government has asked YouTube to remove the video; the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has contacted a private citizen to urge dropping support for the video; and now federal probation officers have called in a filmmaker linked to the video for an "interview." This kind of pressure goes far beyond opposing the video or disassociating the USG from it. We are caving in to the demands of the very people who attacked our diplomatic missions and killed our people. It sets a terrible precedent.

Self-censorship is the worst censorship of all. The radical Islamic fundamentalists have intimidated many in the West through violence and threat. The fatwa against Salman Rushdie, the death of Theo van Gogh, the violence that followed the publishing of the Danish cartoons, the disproportionate reaction to an alleged Internet video, et al., have a chilling effect on the freedom of expression for fear of retaliation. We have the ludicrous example of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen Martin Dempsey, calling up a private American citizen (a pastor) in Georgia asking him to stop supporting the funding of a film. General Petraeus did something similar in 2010 on a threat to burn Korans. The Department of Justice has launched an investigation of the alleged film maker. And we have the Secretary of State repeatedly apologizing and acting like someone on a hostage tape:

“To us, to me personally, this video is disgusting and reprehensible,” Clinton said at a meeting with Moroccan officials in Washington. “It appears to have a deeply cynical purpose to denigrate a great religion and provoke rage. But as we said yesterday, there is no justification — none at all — for responding to this video with violence.”

All this does is to reinforce and encourage the continued assaults against our diplomatic facilities and those of other countries like the UK and Germany today in Khartoum. Her statement and the comments contained in the Embassy Cairo press release (later disavowed by the President and Secretary Clinton) essentially say that you (demonstrators and attackers) have a legitimate right to be offended, just do it peacefully.

We have already conceded the principle that the Islamic radicals are the ones who decide what is offensive or not. Now we just have to figure out a way to make sure our own citizens don’t cross that line--the Constitution notwithstanding. In the meantime, at home and abroad, American citizens are being killed and injured in the name of a “great religion.” The people who are really denigrating Islam are the ones attacking our embassies and killing our people.

It matters not whether these accusations are true or not. Just the assertion is enough to summon the mobs. A false media report about flushing the Koran down the toilet in Gitmo engenders demonstrations and deaths in Afghanistan. The rumor that the US had taken over the Kaaba in Mecca results in our embassy being burned down in Pakistan with four deaths including a Marine Security Guard.

You and the author of this seem to have the French figured out......

Terrorism Alert Levels

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from “Miffed” to “Peeved.” Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross.” The English have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to a “Bloody Nuisance.” The last time the British issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was in 1588 when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots raised their threat level from “Pissed Off” to “Let's get the Bastards.” They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from “Run” to “Hide”. The only two higher levels in France are “Collaborate” and “Surrender.” The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France ‘s white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

It's not only the French who are on a heightened level of alert. Italy has increased the alert level from “Shout loudly and excitedly” to “Elaborate Military Posturing.” Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides.”

The Germans also increased their alert state from “Disdainful Arrogance” to “Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs.” They also have two higher levels: “Invade a Neighbor” and “Lose”.

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels .

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Americans meanwhile and as usual are carrying out pre-emptive strikes, on all of their former allies, just in case.

And in the southern hemisphere...

New Zealand has also raised its security levels - from “baaa” to “BAAAA!”. Due to continuing defense cutbacks (the airforce being a squadron of spotty teenagers flying paper aeroplanes and the navy some toy boats in the Prime Minister's bath), New Zealand only has one more level of escalation, which is “I hope Australia will come and rescue us”.

Australia , meanwhile, has raised its security level from “No worries” to “She'll be right, mate”. Three more escalation levels remain: “Crikey!’, “I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend” and “The barbie is canceled”. So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level.
