Perhaps Marine Le Pen would prefer the Jews of France be forced to sew a yellow Star of David to their clothing.
France is at a critical tipping point. With a weak, unpopular Socialist, François Hollande, as president, a failing economy, high unemployment, a left wing that has gotten even more radical & extreme, and a resurgent neo-fascist movement in the National Front of MLP, a growing population of radicalized Muslims, nothing good is going to happen.
There aren’t any real conservatives in France, they wouldn’t know freedom if it fell off a tree.

Every once in a while Le Pen does something to remind everyone that “right wing” in France and “conservative” in America have no relationship whatsoever.
Neo-fascists and classic liberal constitutionalists have nothing in common.
This is exactly why we shouldn’t be praising France when they ban Muslim headscarves (or, as earlier this week, ban Muslim demonstrations). The French do not do these things to inhibit radical Islam, but rather to promote secularism and restrict religious freedoms - hardly a cause worth celebrating or praising.
I wish they’d stop referring to her and her party as ‘far right’.
People should be free to wear whatever they want provided it covers their privates & DOES NOT HIDE THEIR IDENTITY, with some restrictions related to public security.
There is nothing wrong with a woman wearing a scarf to cover her hair, or a man wearing a kippa, or anybody expressing their religion in a modest way, such as a cross around their neck. Why this is any business of gov’t is beyond me.
Oh, but the French have to micromanage everything, & they have a streak of racism/nationalism a mile long. Liberty/Equality/Fraternity for everybody but the foreigners.
They will be arguing about this 100 years from now. A common sense solution never occurs to them.
