The Washington Posts Bob Woodward reported that during negotiations on the stimulus, President Obama called the leaders of the Democratic Party: Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid.
As he spoke, Speaker Pelosi muted the phone and went on with the meeting.
If he cannot lead his own party, how can he lead America?

Beautiful day here today. Perfect weather. Went to the Rochester Fair yesterday. Fall is here already. I’m not looking forward to winter.
I hope that America hits the mute button on their TVs when Zer0 speaks at the debates.
I thought that the mute button actually prevented the person on the other end from hearing what you were saying. In a way that even worse, she didn’t want to President to hear what other Democrats were saying when he spoke.
It is gorgeous. In and out all morning helping wife plant mums and tulips (for spring). Patriots are on tonight so don’t have to blow nice day inside watching football.
Yes....they just wanted to discuss what they had to say in their own meeting.. and didn’t want Obama to hear his piss-ass leadership was being ignored.....My guess is that they turned down the volume to just enough for them to hear if he actually caught on to their ignoring him.
I like the image of Obozo with phone to ear as voice is describing no one is listening. Very strong.
The inference I take is that they wanted to figure out what they wanted to say to him without his hearing their discussion. If it were a frank and open exchange, I agree, they would not have muted it. They were worried about his reaction to any suggestions they might make.
Romney should be more focused on the poor judgement calls of Obama, here, it is Pelosi that mutes the phone, so whatever Obama was saying would still be heard, just the background noise from Pelosi’s location would not be heard.
I’ll example a couple of poor judgement calls too, like raising the fuel standards to 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025, he cannot dictate technological advances, but doesn’t seem to have the judgement to understand that.
Example, economics=> the more money you take from the private sector, the smaller the private sector, yet he states his plan is an opportunity for everyone, when there will actually be less opportunity.
And by the way, how is it Obama will provide so much opportunity for everyone? He doesn’t own a business, and he won’t have enough money coming in even if he raises taxes.
Pelosi and Reid have more years of lying, dissembling Democrat elected experience, likely longer than this nitwit has been out of diapers. I find it hard to believe they actually had any semblance of value of what he had or has to say.
They MUST be lockstep in public, but I’d bet you dollar to a donut, they have the same attitude about him Clinton had when he told Kennedy, “A few years ago, Obama would have been bringing us coffee.”
Both Reid and Pelosi had POWER! They weren’t about to subsume it without getting any credit. Let’s face it. Obama has never had anything of substance or worth to contribute on the national scene about America’s problems or concerns of the real American.
That isn’t where this foreign raised Muslim is coming from. The only thing that protects him is his half-black skin, and the stubbornness of the MSM to propel him into a second term because they cannot admit now that they chose to help him get elected over actually finding out the truth. For this, they should all be damned to hell.
Good ad to reach indies, seniors, discerning RATS, Catholics and Jews
If Pelosi is complaining, double the buy.
A very good ad. While I think Romney will need to hit Obama’s bad judgment harder (as another FReeper pointed out) in subsequent ads, I think this one was quite effective. It hits Obama as not being in charge, but it also tags Reid and Pelosi a little bit, too. This is important, as Reid is the “designated a-hole” of Obama’s re-election effort - i.e. the guy who acts as the lightning rod and says all the really nasty stuff while Obama plays the ‘I respect the other guy, but I disagree with him” shtick.
Good ad.
Yeah, it kept him from realizing they were talking right through whatever he was yapping about.
I don’t like to see the Romney campaign putting out more ads without meaty issues content, however.
I agree , its a solid one ..Any ad that ties that traitorous bitch with Obama is an effective ad.
Anyone deciding on “meaty issues” has already made up his mind. The game plan now it to persuade the jelly brained leaners.
OK, there are two mutes one uses in a conference all. One mutes the speaker, in this case, Obama. The other one mutes the listener so that the listener can move stuff around on his/her desk and the rest of the people on the call don’t hear it. I’ve been on those conference calls. I listen somewhat because occasionally there is a question asked and if I want the credit for the continuing education, I have to answer but I do have other stuff on my desk and I work on it. So has anyone read the book and did Woodward distinguish?
It doesn’t matter what Romneys ad said. It will be presented as a gaffe. I guarantee it.
