D'Souza, '2016' Receives Standing Ovation in Chicago (VIDEO)
The Washington Times ^ | September 24, 2012 | William Kelly

This weekend, “2016” hit the $32 million mark, earning it a coveted distinction: top grossing documentary of the year and the second biggest political documentary of all time.

Fans and foes alike agree that it is D’Souza that is to blame for the film’s success.

It is an artistically compelling – if controversial – approach that weaves D’Souza’s personal experiences growing up in Mumbai, India with a disturbing psychoanalysis of Obama’s words from the memoir, “Dreams from My Father.”

D’Souza’s conclusion: Obama’s dream is to fulfill the anti-colonialist mission of his father. A mission that seems contrary, even hostile, to American self-interest and preservation

Maybe their way of diverting the MESSAGE of the film, to their love of D'Souza/s

The content of the Film, couldn't possibly be what is attracting FANs to the movie. Can't let that happen.

So, it is our GREAT love and admiration for the producer D'Souza that make us patronize.

yep, that's why I went/s. (never heard of the guy before).

I’m surprised that D’Souza hasn’t been picked up by the fbi for inciting hateful speech yet, or at least hasn’t received his anal probe from the irs.

Its a good film that actually treats Obama rather kindly, and takes him at his word for the details of his biography. That is its weakness, it avoids digging into the fictions embedded in O’s life, and assumes what he says about himself is true. But that is also its strength, as it makes it much easier to convince an Obama partisan to see it.

So while I found myself annoyed with D’Souza at times, since if you’ve studied O’s life you know much of what he says is simply false, but on the other hand I was able to tell people who like O, go see it. If you liked him going in, you’ll still like him coming out. “Its not a hit piece”, I’d tell them. And its not, its better than a hit piece. Not the expose’ I’d like to see, but its pretty good just the same.

I doubt we’ll ever see a truthful film about O. The truth, in his case, is so bizarre you could never sell it.

Some time poor writing is just poor writing. This writer appears to be a conservative.

Exactly my conclusion also! Before seeing the movie... I read the book which of course goes into greater detail, but still carefully avoids any claims which are not excruciatingly well documented or are not from Obama’s own mouth. This can be frustrating to those of us who know a lot of detail about the actual facts.

I watched it the other day on you tube. Thought it was rather timid and I didn’t see anything that most of us didn’t already know.
Maybe it is trying to appeal to the less political population.

I totally agree. I saw the movie and learned much more about Obama’s radicalism than I ever read in the mainstream media. “2016” is an important film that every independent voter needs to see. Obama is violently anti-American and opposed to our Constitution.

That’s what I was thinking, I’m not even sure I know what that is supposed to mean.

I’m baffled. Are you speaking in the first or second person?

is it:
“Shut Up[!] He explained!”.

or:
“Shut Up”, he explained.

Sorry - neither one makes any sense - to me anyway...

That phrase is one used frequently by the Wall Street Journal’s James Taranto, who mocks MSM reporters and editorialists who lay claim to logic, analysis, thought, introspection, etc. but whose writings often descend into mindless personal attacks.

A fictional example: ‘Republicans will lose the election because they are evil, warmongering, and greedy.’

It’s the old civility double standard which prompts Taranto to (re)print ‘Shut up, he explained.’

That YouTube of 2016 was not authorized and reportedly has been taken down.

A recent Chicago poll reveals that Obama retains a 60-29 lead over Romney. But Romney leads 45-38 in Chicago’s voter-rich suburban areas. Interesting...
