I’m baffled. Are you speaking in the first or second person?

is it:
“Shut Up[!] He explained!”.

or:
“Shut Up”, he explained.

Sorry - neither one makes any sense - to me anyway...

That phrase is one used frequently by the Wall Street Journal’s James Taranto, who mocks MSM reporters and editorialists who lay claim to logic, analysis, thought, introspection, etc. but whose writings often descend into mindless personal attacks.

A fictional example: ‘Republicans will lose the election because they are evil, warmongering, and greedy.’

It’s the old civility double standard which prompts Taranto to (re)print ‘Shut up, he explained.’
