Akin told a crowd of supporters, In August I was given a trust , a trust to replace a senator that had not represented Missouri or our best interests. He added, I have one purpose going into November and thats replacing Claire McCaskill.
As the deadline to withdraw from the November general election ballot passed, Missouris Republican party issued a statement saying it will support Akin along with all the other Republican nominees on the ballot.

Is anyone surprised???
Nope.
Alright, did this guy seriously also denounce his statement, that a woman’s body prevents pregnancy in cases of rape? If not, the Missouri race is in a deep trash bin. Alright, I am not even a woman, but I wonder what a woman would think if he thinks that a pregnant woman who asked for an abortion and reported rape, somehow lied because rape shouldn’t impregnate, rape can do everything from cause pregnancy to spread STDs, and that’s a serious issue. A little word of advice for a political candidate: stick to saying that instances of rape justify an exception to the abortion rule, rather than make up something that is totally refuted by science.
Monday former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich predicted major GOP funding for Akin would return by mid-October. Tuesday, conservative commentator and author Phyllis Schlafly of St. Louis agreed. Romney needs Missouri and to try to split the ticket like this Romney is going to be the chief loser on that, she said during an Akin rally in downtown St. Louis.
An independent organization that supports conservative candidates with advertising on cable, radio and the web announced its support for Akin. The ads will begin airing Thursday. The Freedom Defense Fund is promising a $250,000 expenditure independent of the Akin campaign. The political action committee describes itself as dedicated to the protection of liberty from big government advocates of either party. Under federal law the FDF cannot discuss or coordinate its efforts with the nominees staff.
You understand this isn’t what the race is about? This race is about ObamaClaire, and defeating her, and her obama butt-kissing agenda. What Todd said is extremely minor, irrelevant and past.
Todd can win this if we can change the message from “Todd is an idiot” to “Claire is Obama’s handmaiden”. Now that the deadline for hit to WITHDRAW DAMMIT!!, perhaps we can actually discuss policy differences between the candidates?
hit = him
There is nothing akin can do to unsay his words and his gynecological musings may cause many women and independents to hold their nose and vote for the democrat.
The greater fallout would be the same voters protesting with their vote against anyone helping him up and down ticket.
He said he would stay and stay he did.
Alright RNC, Cough up the Bucks.
The goal is getting out Claire.
GO TODD GO!!!!!
RNC Do you really want Claire as a Senator?
She is bragging how she is the 50% Senator.
Down the Middle AFTER VOTING FOR OBAMA CARE.
Enough already, Fund our Candidate and stop
crying, you all will get over it.
Enough already, Fund our Candidate and stop crying, you all will get over it.
LOL! After hearing the same meme FROM the GOP about their liberal candidate for president... it's funny to hear the words pointed back at them.
/johnny
You said it YOMO! you would think the RNC is supporting Claire! start difference between Akin and Scare McCackles.
"Yeah doc (yawn), I wuz raped alright. I wuz, uh, too embarrassed to report it and besides, I wuz too drunk to really remember much. Anyway, I'm allowed to get an abortion because I wuz raped, so gimme my abortion."
/Democrat rape loophole you can drive a truck through
There they are!
he backtracked within minutes I think.
AT least he didn’t call himself “eye candy”, the MSM would have really gone after him then
I thought he already did that..why is thes still an issue
This guy was a long-term congressman with a splendid conservative record.
He got hammered for ONE minor gaffe. And the RINO establishment all jumped on the Democrat express and helped bash him.
What gets me is that there is still anyone in FreeRepublic who falls for that trash.
As for Reince Preibus of the RNC, who is denying him funding, **** him and the horse he rode in on.
SUPPORT THE CONSERVATIVE! He has one of the best records of any Republican in the House.
Great to hear that a couple of TRUE and fearless conservatives with concrete achievements under their belts like Newt Gingrich and Phyllis Schlafly are backing the only TRUE conservative in this race, a truer conservative than is on our presidential ticket, Todd Akin.
I absolutely cannot stand the way the Republicans form a circular firing squad instead of circling the wagons.
Good Hunting... from Varmint Al
Todd Akin is a great example for young Americans. A natural leader, he remained true to conservative principles despite enormous pressure from nearly every Democrat and Republican liberal in this country. He single-handedly took on and whupped Karl Rove and the entire GOP establishment.
He’ll have no trouble whupping his Democrat opponent.
OK RNC, YOU'RE NEXT!! WHAT WILL IT BE?
Joined in 2012 .
It figures !
Its pathetic .
Missouri Ping List Please?
Uh... actually, conception IS rare, period, rape or not (if you understand how a woman's body works). And, because a baby is conceived in rape does NOT "justify" killing him. Maybe you have not seen the testimonies of babies (now adults) who were products of rape, and how grateful they are that their mothers did not kill them in the womb.
Nope, I’ve never been a paulbot, but I do have a candidate that I humbly suggest you consider - Tom Hoefling. He’s the real deal.
P.S. I predict that by election day, you’ll be rooting for Todd Akin!
What if Ronald Reagan had been born as a result of rape. Would you have been happy if his mother aborted him?
For many reasons he is not the first to do this, and by way will not be the last. Pathetic, I don’t think so, especially seeing how he is raising most of the funds by his campaign not the RNC or usual suspects.
If you like him then vote for him,if not keep supporting Claire.
No amount of money will save Akin. A bell can not be unrung.
The RNC could re-direct their entire budget to MO and Akin still loses. Take it to the bank.
Great! I’ll send him some money now that I know he’s in for the long run.
I agree 100%.
80% of the RNC money comes from “rinos” like me.
Any support of Akin will mean an 80% loss of money for the next 20 years.
FYI, between the Nrsc and Senate candidates, I’ve coughed up over 100,000 dollars this cycle. And yes I know the legal maximum is $117,000. I keep a close eye on this limit.
If the NRSC coughs up one dime for akin, I am done.
I don’t care about the abortion issue one way or the other.
However, Idiots should not run for US Senate. That is my litmus test.
Would you prefer that a law be passed to prohibit abortion in case pregnancy resulting from rape?
And if such law were to pass what would the punishment be limited to the abortionist only and not the mother?
/johnny
“No amount of money will save Akin.”
Absolutely correct. But the Akintards will never accept that.
If Akin loses on Election Day, it certainly won’t be because of his lack of political skills and/or the ability to keep his mouth shut. It won’t be because he has the anatomical and biological knowledge of a 7th grader. It won’t be because McCaskill knew what an assclown he would be and dumped a lot of money into seeing to it that he’d be the GOP nominee.
It’ll be because of Karl Rove, Reince Priebus, “RINO’s” like you and I and the so-called “GOP establishment.
Akintards are the political world’s equivalent of alcoholics - but by proxy. They’ll never accept responsibility for their own candidate’s foibles. Instead, they’ll blame everyone else.
I like the nrsc. You should stop funding aking and fund mourdock, heller, and rehberg instead.
Unfortunately, we should have those seats in the bag, but they are very competitive. That is IN, NV, and MT.
Big difference, these days.
/johnny
I heard Senator Blunt’s response to that today. He said that if Akin is close in a couple weeks after enduring Claire’s aire war against him, then he expects the PACs to enter the fray.
And if people dont fund RNC, obama wins and the Senate stays Democrat and Obamacare is in place forever.
Is that what you want?
The conservative crackup continues.
You should have thought through all of this before you dumped conservatives for your party.
/johnny
/johnny
“What if Akin wins?”
I don’t see that happening. But if he does, that’s fine.
Akin is toejam. He’s an assclown. I feel the same way about many of his supporters.
But he’s OUR toejam and he’s OUR assclown.
Nope, he's not the RNC's assclown or toejam. They (you) made a big deal about it.
/johnny
Isn’t it ironic that several of your debate partners are all in for Romney no matter what he says or does because the result is ‘unthinkable’ etc, but somehow they just can’t seem to apply that...logic...to this race?
And people honestly wonder why the GOP and it’s followers are so hosed.
Let’s have some sense of perspective here: Akin said a dumb thing- he learned a lesson and apologized. Obama, OTOH, skipped security briefings and now an ambassador and other Americans are dead- Obama has never apologized, and he continues to change his excuses every week.
Which is worse?...
Every single election.
I just don't budge. Even a little bit. To reach across, or around or to compromise, or to go along to get along.
I'm that fly in their oinkment.
/johnny
I believed him when he said it weeks ago. He is an honest, honorable person.
But Johnny! You HAVE to give 100,000 to fund half the problems we face! Don’t you see? YOU are the [roblem! A pol that has a 90%+ lifetime conservative rating is the problem because he said a bad thing!
Far better to let the Dem win and let them keep the senate than have someone like THAT in office. Besides, you puritans just need to adopt situational ethics. That way you can say you are still conservative with a straight face and no regrets.
Shame on you ;)
If he loses, however. Akin and his supporters that advised him to stay in the race will own that defeat. They will try to blame others but in the end a real conservative accepts responsibility in their own losses. If Akin loses, he will own that defeat. And if we are one seat shy from a Senate majority Akin and those same supporters will also own that defeat
I am hoping he wins. We should all be hoping for that. As a Senator I would support every part of his agenda. By the way, he did very well in the debate!
