BURLESON -- A 3-month-old boy who died Monday evening after being mauled by his father's dog had been asleep on a bed inside the house when he was attacked, police officials said Tuesday. Burleson police officers had been at the house in the 200 block of Linda Drive in connection with a domestic dispute between the infant's parents when the mauling occurred. Officers administered emergency aide to the baby, Rayden Bruce, until paramedics arrived but the infant was pronounced dead at 8:29 p.m. Monday at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth.

I know pit bulls have their defenders, but these people buy them for fighting.

People who are into dog fighting are depraved barbarians and I have no use for them

I’m always stunned when people defend this breed, especially after a tragedy such as this.

But they will defend dogs who’s instincts are bred 400 years deep to bite and fight. Then they want to blame it on a person. No this is exactly what this dog was bred to do.

Agreed. I had a border collie that would stalk and herd anything, barn cats, frogs, ducks, whatever. I also have a blue heeler that herds by nipping at heels and will nip at any heels, regardless of who they belong to. (we finally got her to stop doing that to people but she’s elderly now and doesn’t do anything but sleep). Dogs are bred with certain behaviors and that’s a fact.

Imagine the terror the baby felt...being eaten alive by a pit...we have elderly people in my area who won’t go outside anymore due to the pits that get loose around here...

Did you see the comment from the owner on his Facebook page addressing the last time his pit got loose in the neighborhood? Charming.

If only the cops had followed SOP and shot the dog when they arrived all this could have been prevented.

Who breeds dogs to eat human babies?

Really.

I have been told, repeatedly, that attacks like this are rare.

Holy cow! Do you live in Atlanta? I’d be having a fine time making them target practice if they were loose.

Keep in mind that there are 26 breeds of dog commonly mistaken for “Pit Bulls”, which means that the actual number listed as pit bite statistics is likely much lower when considering the dog in question is likely NOT an actual APBT. According to these statistics, Pit Bull type dogs and Rottweilers do the most damage when they do bite, which is understandable, considering their size and strength.

Find the “pit bull”:
http://www.understand-a-bull.com/Findthebull/findpitbull_v3.html

Recently there was an attack in Louisville that was reported as a pit bull. The facts (there was no correction printed afterwards by the “journalist”) were that the dog had no relationship to any one of the breeds referred to as having pit bull characteristics. Matter of fact, the writer of the piece had not seen the dog, nor had the police told him the dog was a pit bull. He admitted that some person that had *not even seen the dog* told him it was a pit bull. He was too damn lazy to verify *any* of the so called “facts” he had printed. And too unethical to print a correction.

My first point? This particular piece could be more or less accurate. It’s also more likely that is it somewhat to very inaccurate.

My other, more pertinent point is that on FR daily we piss and moan about inaccurate and biased reporting and yet when a piece fits our own mindset, well it must be the gospel truth. And we are all off in righteous indignation to attend the lynching.

People here need to think about my second point. We want to be taken seriously, it behooves us to understand the sources and limitations of the information we post here and use as ammunition to further our cause.

And for those interested in logic, when one extrapolates, one goes from the macro to the micro. One does NOT go from the micro to the macro. The later thinking process is what powers the bigoted liberal mind. And when you take inaccurate information from the micro to the macro, you have utter garbage.

Pit bull owners. It's not like this is an isolated incident.

Put 'em all down. If it looks like a pit bull, and acts like a pit bull, it's a pit bull.

KLBJ in Austin has been talking about this today. This dog had already gotten out before and bit someone on the ankle. It was caught, taken to a vet and then returned to the owner.
