Romney: Obama 'Did Not' Raise Taxes (who nominated this idiot?)
ABC ^ | 9/25/2012 | Gregory J. Krieg

Posted on 09/26/2012 3:30:44 AM PDT by markomalley

Paul Ryan stood by helplessly, and in apparent pain, as Mitt Romney strayed from campaign talking points on President Obama's tax record during a joint "reset" rally today in Ohio.

In the midst of remarks ridiculing the president's handling of the economy, Romney said: "I admit this, he has one thing he did not do in his first four years - he's said he's going to do in the next four years, which is to raise taxes."

During the primaries, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul offered a very different view of the presidents record, when she told the L.A. Times: "President Obama has raised taxes 19 times."

So climb down off your soapbox and try to understand NO ONE is going to swing the ideas and perceptions of hundreds of millions of people in one fell swoop

I agree whole-heartily, however you will find that somewhere between 1%-3% of GOP voters, who are true conservatives will not vote for Romney. They will vote, most likely straight ticket GOP, minus not voting in the Presidential race.

Everything has gone up- even doubled under Obama. Among his accomplishments (that Romney needs to be hammering him on) >>>>>

Health Premiums Up $3,000; Obama Vowed $2,500 Cut

Gas has doubled under him. $3.50+ is the new normal >> Gasoline Prices More than Double Under Obama: $1.84 to $3.85http://cnsnews.com/news/article/gasoline-prices-more-double-under-obama-184-385

I can’t afford beef. To be honest in a way that’s actually been better for my health. Chicken and fish are still relatively the less expensive choices, while beef has practically become a luxury. I still love beef though :-/

Actually I can’t think of an item right now that hasn’t gone up a-lot under Obama.

If our taxes haven’t - it’s not because of anything he did- it’s that his socialist policies just haven’t hit yet > Obamacare hasn’t hit us yet and Taxamageddon hasn’t hit (Jan 1) - http://www.atr.org/days-taxmageddon-a7203

Yes, if you define large government as both to scope and cost.

Why are we posting to MarkOmalley, JR, and P-Marlowe?

Yes, and the income tax is one that must be eliminated asap!

Ideally yes, or a flat percentage tax, OR a punitive tax that taxes earners more the less they earn.

Anytime I hear Myth = Reagan, I just smile and shake my head.

Mitt Romney, you are no Ronald Reagan.

“Recognizing that at this point one is either behind Romney in this race or against him has nothing to do with sycophancy. It’s merely an exercise in common sense.”

Romney is the last RINO standing. Pretending that he is a conservative won’t change what he is.

“Either one wants Romney to beat Obama or they don’t. And anyone who wants Romney to beat Obama hopefully also recognizes that jumping on the media-sponsored Attack Romney Bandwagon at this stage of the campaign only helps Obama.”

Tell you what: if he acts and sounds conservative, I’ll praise him. If he acts and sounds like a “moderate”, then I’ll give the comment as much praise as it deserves. None.

And if you think I’m hard on him now, wait until after he’s sworn in.

I agree but it seems that few folks here are buying the liberal media crap in this case of what Romney said about Obama did not raise taxes i.e. income taxes...

Rush is a pretty smart guy. I wouldn’t be surprised that’s what is going on, but you’d think they’d at least pick a fighter to go up against Obama on the outside chance that he might just score a knockout.

But, it was “Mitt’s turn”, I guess.

Maybe he’ll start fighting and prove us all wrong. Or maybe he has genius managers who will be proven right that kid gloves is the way to win this thing.

Who knows?

I would agree with that.

But agreeing with every niggling (racist, that sounds racist) thing the MSM has to say like Pavlovian dogs gets us nowhere.

The MSM plays a lot of freepers like a fiddle. I think the press loves our outrage, particularly if it can be brought towards any GOP candidate.

The founders rebelled over far less of sales type of taxes. It is outrageous that we have allowed this communist tax and Red Beckman wrote a book about how the 16th amendment was never truly ratified in all the needed states. This is how they have destroyed our nation, mostly.

You missed the point.

Not all women, only the Frank Luntz focus group types that are still “deciding”...

The electorate is polarized, split almost down the middle politically, with a critical few “undecideds” whose votes are up for grabs. They hover between left and right, with convictions as firm as pudding. These are unfortunately critical target votes, and it is often easier to strike a cord with this voter demographic by appealing to their emotions - Obama’s (and Hitler’s) successful strategy.

Mark, because he started the discussion. JR because I thought he’d like the original comments...I keep trying to change his mind about Mitt support. :>)
Marlowe, because he’s a friend, but also a lawyer with constitutional credentials and some great insights. No need to continue pinging JR. If I’m gonna make my point, I already tried and only time will tell.

Government Ending Freedom: How to prevent it?

Some say the best strategy is to go along with Mitt, dump him later, and then try to start over in the proper direction.

Some say the best strategy is to view Mitt as a continuation of the problem and go the future direction now.

I’m in the 2nd camp.

Pretending that he is a conservative won’t change what he is.

Who's pretending anything of the sort? We all know he's the least conservative of the Republican pack by far. We also know Obama's a Marxist.

"And if you think I’m hard on him now, wait until after he’s sworn in."

With all the political "friendly fire" he's been the target of lately, can't assume that outcome to be a given.

In Ohio in 2008, there were on election day 8 million registered voters who could have ALL voted if they’d just gone to the polls.

In Ohio in 2008, there were only 5.5 million who actually voted. IOW, 2.5 million REGISTERED voters did not vote.

We didn’t lose Ohio in 2008 because of a few percentage points of undecideds. We lost Ohio because of a totally crappy ground game.

I would be in the second camp as well, but I am not at all convinced that there will be another chance if we don’t stop the Marxist now.

Great point. We're voting to fire Obama, not elect Romney. Although, I still feel like a hypocrite because I admittedly stated "NO MORE RINOS," but I can not stand by and watch this socialist, anti-American destroy this country!

That is incorrect. When you vote, you are endorsing a candidate, not voting against another.

We’ve discussed in the past, so you’re probably aware that I think the US is more resiliant than to fall just because some loudmouth has 4 more years.

Will we be injured? Sure.

But I’m not giving up. Do you think America will?

And that is their right to “protest” by not voting at all, which exponentially increases the value of the Democrat entitlement crowd votes.

Look at the margin of victory that kept us from Gore for 4!
