Politico Headline: Mitt 'Oozes' Empathy In New Ad
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

From the Department of Damned if You Do, Damned If You Don't . . .

The MSM delighted in raking Mitt Romney over its coals [solar cells?] for his 47% remarks. So how do they react when Romney issues an ad saying that whereas both he and President Obama care about the poor, his plans will actually help them? With scorn, of course.

Check out the headline from today's Morning Score at Politico: "Mitt Oozes Empathy In New Ad."

View the ad here.

The left hates the poor. The Kenyan, epitomising the left, has the ultimate hated for the poor.

Unlike in the ad, I won’t pretend that Obama cares about the poor. He creates them and he uses them.

However, I will agree that Obama PURPORTS to care about the poor.

So with that caveat, it’s a pretty good concept. How’s that “Obama is for the poor” working out for you? Huh?

Now here’s MY plan...

NPR yesterday had this to say about Mitt's speech in NYC:

close paraphrase: "Mitt Romney's speech was out of character for the Republican nominee. It was positive, well-written, and well-delivered."

They struggle to be objective. And they fail miserably.

It seemed like a good ad. I think that it is funny that the media has gone overboard trying to paint Romney as a hard core conservative. I am not sure that in an election cycle where most people in the country identify themselves as conservative... if their attempts are really hurting him.

There are two interesting sides to that, in my opinion:

1) If the media paints Romney as a rabid, extremist Conservative, does that hurt Romney? I'm not sure it does.
2) If the media paints Romney as a rabid, extremist Conservative, does that hurt Conservatism? I think it does.

A true Conservsative should be more hard-core than Romney, but if a lot of people become convinced that Romney is as hard-core as the country can possibly tolerate, then there is no hope of ever getting a real Conservative elected in the future.

He came from The Washington Post, where he covered public transportation and Loudoun County. Previously he wrote for The Los Angeles Times’ Washington bureau, The Dallas Morning News and The San Jose Mercury News.

Politico Lets Bill Clinton Whine for More Credit For Welfare Reform, Balanced Budget

By Tom Blumer | October 01, 2011 | 23:41

At the Politico, James Hohmann’s biography page indicates that he is “an Honors graduate of Stanford University” who “studied American political history.” I hope he skipped class during the time his profs covered the 1990s, because if not, he and many other classmates have been badly misled.

Hohmann covered Bill Clinton’s commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of his presidential candidacy announcement at his library in Little Rock, Arkansas, and let the following Clintonian howlers go by without challenge:

I’m getting weary of this “Obama is trying but I will try harder” crap. Why do we placate the enemy?
