Gay men in the military will be calling for the draft to be re-instituted... watch for it.

Where have I been? On the front lines - teaching. Our school district does NOT confiscate lunches from home (yet), nor do any other school districts in our area. The thing is, most kids at our school don’t bring their own lunches because they get free or reduced school lunches. But the district does follow the federal guidelines for lunches and breakfasts. Yes, they all get free breakfasts....I know.

a disturbing lie....This is only a valid argument if the nation has a draft.

Do you have proof it's a lie?

Also, are you saying "This is only a valid argument if the nation has a draft" 'at this time'?
Why would you think that can't change in the future?

I'm no fan of the nanny state, but when "[o]ne out of every four adolescents are too overweight to join the military," I'm not surprised the military is concerned.

Here's a radical and subversive thought: instead of starving everybody, why not take the OVERWEIGHT kids and have them do more exercise?

You're a brave soul. I spent 25 years working in max and medium state prisons, and I figure my job was a lot easier than yours.

Well, at least you had bars between you and the inmates. And then there are the liberal teachers and a constitutional amendment on the ballot enshrining the right to collective bargaining in the state constitution and pressure from the union to “volunteer” to push it. They are taking names of those who “volunteer”. I am against it.

They were only behind bars for the counts, and at nighty-nite time. The rest of the time they were out and about. I worked as a Safety Officer at a psych center before I took the job in Corrections. I saw more action as a Safety Officer than I did as a Corrections Officer. At least in a prison you can lock them up if they misbehave. You can’t do that in school.

You really are silly. Since when is it against the law to be to fat to join the volunteer army? Since when did we decide the government should tell our children what to eat and how many calories are good for them? It is a lie because it is NOT THE TRUTH. That is sufficient proof.

Children today may have weight issues do to several factors...they watch too much TV; they play video games instead of outdoors; the nanny state keeps redefing what ‘obese’ is to make the stats look awful. I do not consider this a ‘national security’ issue. This retired admiral and his yes bos ought to shut the hell up.

I worked a long term sub position at our day treatment program where they put the psycho kids. They offered me a permanent position, but I said no thanks and took a job that opened in one of the elementary schools in the district. As it turned out, I ended up with a few kids in fifth grade who should have been in day treatment. They pushed down my sub during a fight in the classroom and broke her arm and bragged about it. And that’s just one incident. At least they have security guards that have your back at day treatment. Probably should have stayed there after all.
