Obama +4.7 or only +0.4 in Colorado (I’m serious about the 2 results in the same poll)

Even if it’s only 0.4, that’s still too much. Time to move it along.

“I will be shocked if CO goes for Romney. Here in Denver it seems like everyone is totally in the tank for BHO. I’ve seen exactly one Romney yard sign (and that was in Boulder!!).”

Well, in driving about various parts of Boulder County the last few weeks, including the City of Boulder, I’ve seen only a single yard sign for Obama and about three Obama bumper stickers. If these folks vote for Obama, they’re sure not very proud of it. My guess is a bunch of ‘em ain’t gonna be voting for Zero again.

The answer to your question is John Denver. In short, he made popular the hippy migration to Boulder and Aspen and Veil. Lots of aging hippies decided to relocate to Colorado and diluted the conservative vote. Eventually, Downtown Denver and Boulder turned into liberal enclaves surrounded by reality.

I’m a long time CO resident, I was a volunteer lobbyist for 5 years and a regular down at the capital for a few years on each side it.

The change occurred when the Front Range reached critical mass. The pivotal moment in CO politics coincided with the banning of leg hold traps in CO. The FR, Ft. Collins down to South Denver had enough votes to now dictate to the rest of the state.

I live in Boulder, when I travel out to reality, I’m seeing Romney signs in Larimer and Weld counties. The communities off the FR are still the blue collar republicans they’ve always been, as are the older timers around here.

The county vote map after 2008 looked like a red red cats eye with a blue iris,(or maybe a blue skid-mark. Outside the Front Range the population density drops off dramatically.

Basically, there maybe more of them, then there are of us.

Sigh. Kool-Aide drinkers one and all. It’s always tough for the rest of the state to make up for the preponderance of Commies in Denver.
