BUNNELL A man was intoxicated while riding his horse as he led police on a half-hour chase through a northeast Florida town, authorities said Tuesday.
Charles Larkin Cowart, 29, was arrested Monday in Bunnell, about 60 miles south of Jacksonville.
A police officer was responding to a report of an intoxicated male riding a horse when he turned on his emergency lights to stop traffic as Cowart crossed the street, according to the charging affidavit. Cowart said he was on his way to his grandmothers house in nearby Flagler Beach, but refused officers order to dismount and in an aggressive manner reared the horse back and took off.

Wow you are just a good little government is right troll today are you not. Piss off you wanker.
But did he have his seatbelt on.. and was there an open container somewhere on the horse.. maybe a sixpack in the saddlebags.. Was he smoking?.. And what was he smoking?
These are things that can drive Barney Fife NUTS..
I have this argument in my bar all the time. I content that riding a horse home drunk is NOT a DWI (Driving while intoxicated). I grew up with horses and they know the way home, a good horse will simply walk/trot home if you just let it. So I content that I am merely a passenger, the horse is “driving” and the horse is not drunk. All my customers disagree with me, but in a sane world I would be correct. Please note that my argument is applicable only if you are just going home and not commanding the horse to do anything.
Not just Barney Fife, it also bothers some Freepers.
I like that of course the real question is how it is defined in the law.
Anyone who tells you that you are being needlessly obtuse, and do not understand the fundamentals of American jurisprudence is a troll. Got it.
Just the yearly "drunk on horseback" FR thread bringing out teh stupid.
I think here in Texas you can get a DWI if you are on a horse, drunk and on a public road. I think you can get one on a bicycle too. But the state will have to find a jury to convict you. I doubt a jury would be inclined to convict someone on horseback or a bike just for being drunk. Now if they were causing problems, being a general pain in the butt, yeah, but just for being over .070? I like to believe a Texas jury would not do that.
No you are just a government (or maybe the police) is always right liberal piece of dung. The problem today is that the law and government thinks that they get to control everything. They think that they are the last word and that we are subjects or slaves that must do as we are told, and evidently you agree with this. You sound like liberal.
Hey, the guy was an wannabe actor trying out for Lee Marvin’s part in “Cat Balleau”. That’s why he and the horse he rode into town in were both intoxicated.
Hee Hee Hah
Glad you stopped by with your stupidity and government worship.
I use to think that a jury would not convict in these cases but after the responses on this thread I am not too hopeful.
“Well then just troll on.”
Wow, a guy rides a horse drunk and the next thing you know, I’m a troll. LOL
Oh, another remake Hollywood is killing us.
For pointing out that it's illegal to operate a horse while intoxicated. The stupid, it burns.
I asked if it was the actual law and you said “ Because there is no specific-enough law on the books?” If it is not in the law then it is not against the law. And your stupidity is burning a hole in what is left of your mind.
Come on a thread make comments and do not reply to posts to you except to run away, yep you are trolling.
TRAFFIC.Pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, and vehicles, streetcars, and other conveyances either singly or together while using any street or highway for purposes of travel. Title XXIII, Chapter 316, § 003.57Now, counselor . . . let's see you make the argument that a man on horseback does not fall under the definition of "traffic" as it pertains to the Florida Motor vehicle code.
See ya' next year! [waves]
Wow you finally answer the question instead of being snarky, good for you. But you are still a wanker and a government loving peon.
Awfully sensitive for someone who learns he is wrong. Who's the lib, now?
