His path to victory narrowing, Mitt Romney is looking to Pennsylvania to help slow President Barack Obama's momentum ahead of a high-stakes meeting on the debate stage next week.
The Republican presidential nominee was to campaign Friday in the Philadelphia area, first courting donors at a high-dollar fundraiser and then meeting voters at a midday rally.
Fresh off a promise to spend more time in the swing states that matter most, Romney will pass much of the day in a state that has not supported a Republican presidential candidate in nearly a quarter-century. His campaign is not running any television ads in Pennsylvania, and aides privately concede that Obama has a significant advantage just 40 days before Election Day.
They suggest that Romney's visit his first to the state in more than two months is largely designed to raise the money needed to narrow Obama's edge in more competitive states. After raising $5 million at a Washington event Thursday, Romney is expected to generate more than $1 million in Philadelphia and an additional $7 million at a Boston fundraiser later Friday.
"We're going to have to make the right choice on Nov. 6, and you're going to make that happen," Romney told cheering donors in Washington. Obama will also focus on raising cash Friday as he keeps his campaign close to Washington, where he has three fundraising events scheduled.
He is set to deliver remarks at a finance event at the Capital Hilton in Washington, where tickets start at $250 but go as high as $10,000 per couple. Obama will attend a smaller fundraiser at a private residence before returning to the Capitol Hilton for a third event.
On Thursday, Romney and Obama campaigned a few hundred miles apart in Virginia.

is this headline meant to be a joke?
Whenever did a candidate whose “path to victory” was narrowing waste time in a state long written off?
Looking to PA? Then why is Romney, cross roads, and Obama not advertising in PA? That answer is obvious. Having a fundraiser does not mean you are contesting the state.
I’ll be at the Romney event at Valley Forge Military Academy. And I’ll be crawling over broken glass to remove 0bama from office. The Left seems to forget that in 2010’ we elected a Republican governor and a Republican senator. We’re going to finish what we started.
Dick Morris has put his credibility so far out on a limb this year: Confidently states Romney will win PA. Polling is in his wheelhouse, so if he is wrong he should retire to some far away land filled with barefooted prostitutes.
When the media was waiting for the next set of talking-points from the Obama campaign.
I can't get over the Freepers who thought PA would be competitive. It's been solid blue for twenty years even when it elected GOP senators or governor.
Amen to that SueRae! We’re going to bring it home for Romney, God willing! I’m seeing lots of “Fire Obama” signs in yards around here (western Pa). Two Obama signs. I’m hoping the voter ID law stands!
And when was the last time Dick Morris was right? His 2008 presidential predictions were off the charts wrong. Dick Morris is an idiot.
Why this paralysis in the face of unverfied “momentum” the Obama campaign claims to have? Remember the source of this screed, and their orientation. It is all part of trying to suppress the T.E.A. party vote.
“Solid Blue” has plenty of purple tinges showing through, and the lessons supposedly taught to the arrogant liberal majority at the time are still unlearned. We are simply going to have to kick their noses so hard their butts will bleed.
Our “path to victory” has not shown any “narrowing” as claimed, and Pennsylvania is not yet to be written off.
“We are simply going to have to kick their noses so hard their butts will bleed.”
****
I’m pretty sure they’re used to having their butts bleed. If you need an explanation on that one, Google “Obama” and “Man’s Country.” Or just ask “body man” Reggie Love.
Did you hear Smith on Levin’s show yesterday? I missed part of it, but he sounded good. Hopefully that exposure will help him with his fundraising.
I didn’t get a chance to hear him on Levin’s show yesterday I was sleeping at the time.
Morris picked McCain over Obama?
I'm a poll watcher in PA and if the court upholds the voter ID law, I'll bet anyone $1,000 {cash in escrow account} that Romney/Ryan will win.
Without voter ID I wouldn't bet a dime.
The two reasons that the demonRATs have continued to win in PA is 1) Pittsburgh voter fraud; 2) Philadelphia voter fraud. Without voter fraud the demonRATs will lose.
If America only knew....
Will America be lost because noone had the guts to expose Obama?

I agree that the main key is keeping Voter ID rules in place here in PA.
I don’t have a lot of confidence in our state going for R&R but I noticed there were Obama ads running last night (I’m in the Philly TV market). Why would he be spending that money if PA were considered a lock?
PA Ping!
If you want on/off the PA Ping List, please freepmail me. Thanks!
I saw last night on the local news the judge will make his decision on the voter ID Law next week...Please Lord let it stand...
