51% Trust Romney More on Economy, 44% Trust Obama More
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 09/28/2012 | Scott Rasmussen

Mitt Romney continues to hold a seven-point lead in voter trust over President Obama when it comes to the economy, by far the number one voting issue. The candidates remain more closely divided in several other key issue areas, but voters are shifting toward Romney when it comes to national security.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 51% of Likely U.S. Voters trust Romney more when it comes to handling the economy. Forty-four percent (44%) trust the president more. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

So the economy is the #1 issue. And Romney leads by 7 points. Yet is down in the polls? Does not make any sense at all, looking at it historically.

Well and good... BUT! (BIG BUT!)... What gives Mitt??? I see CNN reporting a memo lowering expectations as to Mr. Romney’s performance in the debates? No amount of media bias and skewed polls can discourage me not to vote... BUT candidate Mitt Romney is discouraging me BIG TIME! Is our GOP nominee just token opposition to Obama? As was the “Washington Generals” who used to provide the “opposition” to the Harlem Globetrotters??? I see a feckless timid campaign... is there something I don’t know? I am becoming more and more concerned the GOP nominee does NOT seek victory... thus he is the Washington Generals to Obama as Harlem Globetrotters. The most failed president EVER crusing to re-election??? It doesn’t make any SENSE! God help us!

The companion question of who do you trust more on taxes is really a breakdown of those who pay taxes. I suspect those asked these questions on “Obama phones” would all support the lib view. Duh!

That is the election result right there......IMO, even with all the voting fraud, Obama will not get more than 42 percent of the vote.

Candidates are supposed to do that.

You should be worried if he bragged about how well he was going to do.

That’s what I have been saying. 51-48.

All those undecideds will all go to Romney... Just too scared of the race card now. But once in the booth, it will be a check for Romney.

You notice (in most every poll) voters feel far more comfortable criticizing his actual polices. It shows their true feelings.

Politics is a game of expectations.I’d do exactly the same as Romney’s team regarding the debates.

I am shocked and dismayed at the decline of our nation that a communist like 0bama can get 42% of the vote. We all discuss how this election reminds us of 1980, Reagan v. Carter. But I think that if 0bama were running in 1980, he would not have 25% of the vote, and would not have taken one single state.

It’s a different country and as far as the political mindset of the American electorate, it’s not a change for the better.

odd way to write a headline.

it seems to imply obama “more” trusted.

The only “economic policy” Obama has is “the check is in the mail”. 44% approval is very possible with that scenario.

First of all, Romney doesn’t have a friend in the media. The only time they give him coverage is when he gaffes. Secondly, the typical American voter is an idiot. We’re finally reaping the consequences of generations of union-controlled teachers indoctrinating students into socialism.

Romney gets good numbers here but your point is valid. Obama support is bleeding the youth vote, the union vote, the Black Christian,Catholic and Jewish votes, and generally the white vote. I’ve only heard about the Hispanic vote possibly increasing. It can’t make up for all those votes lost so definitely the polls are wrong IMHO.

What does “trust” mean when speaking of a politician of any party? I “trust” Obama completely. He has earned my trust. When he says he’ll fundamentally transform America, I believe that he wants to do that: transform America into a muslim, third-world sh!thole. When he says he wants to share the wealth, I trust him to do everything he can to take other people’s wealth and share it with his cronies. When he says that he wants make energy costs skyrocket, I believe him.

Obama is stupid. Obama is something other than Christian. Obama is racist. Obama is an elitist who believes in communism for the masses and consumerism for the elites. And Obama means what he says when he says that he plans to make Americans suffer.

My first reaction as well.

They probably think economy means "sharing the wealth."

Does Fox deliberately choose not to Air Rasmussen polls because Stephen Hayes was on Fox today saying polls are showing more people trust Obama on the economy
