Iranian press fooled by The Onion By Julian Pecquet - 09/28/12 12:17 PM ET
Iran's semi-official FARS news agency has been fooled by an Onion story that found rural white voters prefer Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to President Obama.
The agency on Friday republished, without attribution, a bogus Gallup poll from the satirical U.S. newspaper showing Obama badly trailing Ahmadinejad among rural white voters.
According to the story, 77 percent of rural Caucasian voters ... would much rather go to a baseball game or have a drink with Ahmadinejad than spend time with Obama.
The story says rural whites prefer the Iranian leader because he takes national defense seriously, he'd never let some gay protesters tell him how to run his country like Obama does and he doesn't try to hide the fact that he's Muslim.
The Onion first ran the story on Monday, with a bogus Charleston, W.Va., dateline. Ahmadinejad, who is in the last full year of his final term in office, was in the news again this week when he delivered a fiery speech at the United Nations on Wednesday calling for a new world order to replace U.S.-led capitalism.
The “Onion” finally got one right!
LOL...!!!! OMG...!
But...seriously who REALLY thinks Hussein is personable, warm and funny...?
Anyone? Hey I can see getting fooled by this report, too...
^_^
Hilarious!

I wonder if they’ll ever run across my blog?
I actually WOULD rather meet A’jad than Obama.
I meet plenty of naive, delusional American leftists, just like Obama. Nothing special there.
Mockmood Ah'ma-Dizzy-Jihad must have a black belt in "gullible"...
Ping.
This isn’t the first time The Onion has fooled a foreign country. A few years ago The Onion had an article that discussed moving our capital city. It was making light of sports teams making demands of outdated facilities, and instead used congressmen and the Senators. The CHICOMS put it in one of their major papers that we were moving our capital. http://tech.mit.edu/V122/N27/long5_27.27w.html
Quite natural. All of the Iranian press is like The Onion.
The Onion has had a lot of hilarious stuff since they started, but the slant is overwhelmingly liberal-biased. If you checked the amount of articles mocking conservatives and Republicans, they far outweigh the mild stories they put out against liberals and Obamatons. For instance, has anyone ever read an Onion piece that savaged radical feminists? I doubt it.
*Cough* ... except for the 'rural white' part, I could probably be part of that '77%' ...
I have....see link below
It’s not really hammering the radical feminists much though is it? It’s sort of making a joke that what meek feminists really need is a no-nonsense, tough, macho man to run things.
I don’t know about that. Telling a feminist that they need a man drives them bonkers - it is probably the biggest insult you can give them.
