If Democrats were to take control of the House of Representatives after the November elections, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her party would “amend the [U.S.] Constitution” on the “very first day” to overturn the Supreme Court’s “Citizens United” decision.

President Obama said he supports a constitutional amendment to reverse the ruling and keep undisclosed corporate contributions out of elections.

Nasty Pelozi, the fascist liberal, apparently is unaware of the rules of the Constitution. No surprise there.

Here is the procedure for amending the Constitution, and it requires more than one party control of the legislature:

Obviously, da dum biatch doesn’t know what amending the Constitution involves. She’ll never see it in what remains of her lifetime.

In that case, when the Republicans take over in January they should amend the Constitution to put unions under the same campaign finance rules as corporations.

Why bother? Why not just have The Great Golfer issue an executive order?

The amendment would have to have 2/3 support from both the House and the Senate. Then, for it to become an ammendment to the Constitution, 3/4 of the State Legislatures would have to ratify it. Highly unlikely.

Amend it? Takes too long. Don’t pay attention to it at all. Works for Hussein.

"amend the constitution to overturn Citizens United,

So Nutjob Nancy believes the communist agenda donks can amend the Constitution in one day.

One. Day.

Lets see...

Article V of the Constitution outlines how to amend (modify) the document. It consists of two steps: proposal and ratification.

1. Propose An Amendment
Either Congress or the States can propose an amendment ot the Constitution.
Both Houses of Congress must propose the amendment with a two-thirds vote. This is how all current amendments have been offered.
Two-thirds of the State legislatures must call on Congress to hold a Constitutional Convention.

2. Ratify An Admendment
Regardless of how the amendment is proposed, it must be ratified by the States.
Three-fourths of the State legislatures must approve of the amendment proposed by Congress, or Three-fourths of the states must approve the amendment via ratifying conventions. This method has only been used once, to repeal Prohibition (21st Amendment).

Is there a timeline for ratification? The US Supreme Court has held that ratification must happen within "some reasonable time after the proposal." Since the 18th Amendment, Congress has set a term of seven years for ratification.

But Nutjob Nancy can, with her magic wand and rainbow fairy dust, can make it happen in one day.

She needs a brand new white "dinner jacket" and a snappy new "ankle bracelet."

The 27th amendment was proposed in 1789 and ratified in 1992.

Seems reasonable to me!

Since the 18th Amendment, Congress has set a term of seven years for ratification.

Can you provide documentation on that?

As of currently there are 4 amendments to the Constitution, waiting to be ratified by the States. Three of the four were proposed before the 18th Amendment, with one being after. Although the likely hood of these being ratified is non-existance, they could still ratified by the states. As well if no deadline is explicitly written into the amendment for when to ratify it by, it can be ratified whenever the states choose to ratify it.
