The presidents resistance to drawing a red line on Iran and his attacks on Romney for being cavalier about military action are fueled by the GOP nominees foreign policy blundersand the knowledge that most Americans oppose a war with Tehran.
In the past 10 days, something remarkable has happened: President Obama has gone on the political offensive on Iran. It started just over a week ago when Benjamin Netanyahu took a swipe at Hillary Clinton and tried to pressure Obama into setting a deadline for military action.

Its also become clearer that Americans deeply oppose military action against Iran. According a recent Chicago Council survey of American foreign policy (PDF), a majority of Americans oppose military action against Iran even if it enjoys United Nations approval. And when asked about the far more likely scenario of a unilateral U.S. strike, 70 percent of Americans disapprove. Fifty-nine percent say the U.S. should stay out of a war between Israel and Iran. And the percentage of Americans who see Irans nuclear program as a critical threat has actually dropped four points since 2010, despite the enormous attention the mediaand Congresshave devoted to the issue.
Lurking behind these findings is the legacy of Afghanistan and Iraq, wars that despite the Romney campaigns efforts to pretend they never happened, have left a deep imprint on the publics view of military force.
he doesn’t get it. not being serious about a conventional military strike today absolutely means we will have a nuclear one within five years.
Its also become clearer that (liberal) Americans deeply oppose military action against Iran. . . until the first suitcase nuke goes off. And that would mean it is too late.
Peter Beinart - No need to say more.
Where to start with this article? The writer is clearly smoking crack.
a conventional military strike
Do you also believe we’ll need to invade and occupy?
Ah, so this is why you’re posting Daily Beast articles.
Ah, so this is why youre posting Daily Beast articles.
It’s an interesting article. He makes some good points. Laura Ingraham had Dan Senor on her show, and said even conservatives are saying they’re wary of more wars. If people think voting for Romney means another war, I’m afraid the Democrats win.
ha ha ha It is Barack Hussein Obama with the foreign policy blunders that led to another 9/11 attack.
Beinart is trying to change the conversation from Libya to Iran. While Libya told us that something was going down days before the Benghazi attacks, Obama was out hustling campaign contributions. After the fact, Obama threw up smoke by blaming a porn video. Now that people who can read know Al Qaida was behind the Libya trouble, the Regime has some stooge in the press alleging that Romney wants war with Iran.
Going on the offensive against Romney is the only viable game plan the Current Regime in the White Hut can come up with. They have NO defensibe argument for what they are now doing, and can only claim that “things would be worse” with Mitt Romney at the helm.
It is hard to imagine HOW things could be terribly worse than the situation we are now in. Israel is being jammed up against an intractable deadline beyond which they shall have to fight for their very existence, whether or not they get any help from the US. And so far, while Current Occupant makes vague and uncertain promises, it looks more and more like Israel WILL be abandoned by the Current Regime.
And it looks like with every day passing, that conclusion becomes even more inescapable.
Almost as if, the Muslim Brotherhood had a hot-line right to the Oval Office.
alleging that Romney wants war with Iran.
“Alleging”? Romney may or may not want war with Iran, but most of his freeper supporters on this thread DO want war with Iran. Read the posts. And they seem to see that as a difference between our guy - Romney - and the Current Occupant, i.e., one will go to war, the other won’t.
Unfortunately, war with Iran is not a popular prospect with voters, so for Romney’s supporters to keep talking about it doesn’t help him. I’m a (reluctant) Romney supporter, and I wish the rest of us would stop telling America that we need to start a war in Iran - because that’s a loser at the polls. I’m afraid that every time a freeper says let’s bomb Iran, Obama gets another vote.
They do!! Isn’t Valerie Jarrett Iranian born???....
And Humma??? The MB is FAMILY for her.
I read in here some time ago how many meetings the MB and CAIR have had at the White Hut - an amazing number.
Onama looks better if they say he is on the offensive instead of the defensive...
so the media does LOL!
They’re releasing a remake of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Youngs OHIO. It’s called BENGHAZI.
“Six dead in Benghazi!
Six dead in Benghazi!”
Maybe that lesbian from Syria was doing the polling: The Libs get real hoax.
