Hundreds of Thousands Flee Democrat-Run California
Breitbart ^ | September 28, 2012 | TONY LEE

Due to high taxes, burdensome regulations, lack of public sector reforms, and a lackluster job climate, more people have left California than come to the state since 2005, according to a comprehensive study by the Manhattan Institute released on Tuesday, suggesting California is no longer “perceived by most Americans as the land where dreams come true.”

In the report, titled “The Great California Exodus: A Closer Look," Tom Gray and Robert Scardamalia found Californians have fled to states like Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, South Carolina, and Georgia because those states have a better economic climate with less taxes and regulation.

The report found that between 1960 and 1990, 4.2 million Americans moved to California and helped accelerate California’s booming economy. Since 1990, though, California has lost nearly all of that gain, with net domestic out-migration averaging 225,00 residents a year. Between 2000 and 2010, out-migration has resulted in lost income of 5.67 billion to Nevada, $4.96 billion to Arizona, $4.07 to Texas, and $3.85 billion to Oregon.

The study found that “if all these trends continue, California may find itself in a situation similar to that of New York and the states of the midwestern Rust Belt in the last century, which have seen populations stagnate for decades, or even fall.”

“In-N-Out is in Texas now, too. Tommy’s is reportedly considering moving as much of their customer base has moved here.”

I know!! I’m in Houston, but took a 4 hour road trip to sample In-and-Out in Dallas. Outstanding, of course. Tommy’s I didn’t know about, but they would absolutely kick butt here.

We’re one of the $4.07 billion to Texas. Miss my family, miss my friends, don’t miss much else. We’re conservative so I suspect a net plus to the state. And we’re really glad to be here.

I’ve looked at moving back from time to time (family mostly) but I’m really doubtful at this point. The education system and economy scares me.

The problem with these California expats is once they infest your state, they try to change it to the same craphole they escaped from.

That is incorrect. It is only the coastal edge that is blue. At least 3/4 of the counties are red.

Some consolation.

When the state is overwhelmingly "blue", it has all turned to crap.

If there is any doubt about the stupidity of living in California, just look at the leaches that are ensconsed in Sacramento, passing laws for the overtaxed citizen's to live under.Jerry Brown is probably the sanest of the California politicians.

Yes, I know, but the fact is republicans can no longer win a statewide office.

One out of four people here are foreign born (and a large percentage illiterate), and the democrats have got them convinced that republicans boil little brown babies for dinner. There's no way to redeem this state.

How very true! A nearby city newspaper reported a while back that someone was vandalizing vehicles with California license plates. Can't say I was surprised to see it.

There is palpable venom by many locals in many cities where Californians have fled because they bring with them gangs, drugs, crime and liberal politics that destroy everything that made their new destination city desirable to them.

..............Not to mention Tommy’s and In-and-Out. My last vacation was to California. But as for a place to make a living and raise a family, California priced itself out decades ago.

Texas is a great state, enjoy. Another plus is that they do have In-and-Out in Texas.

You guys have it too - been there recently when driving to CA. Our problem, for now, is that they’re only in the Dallas area.

Hundreds of Thousands Flee Democrat-Run California

Could it be that the Democratic Party of California will ensure that all of them still vote for Dems in November?

I know. I’m in Colorado. Loads of Kali plates on cars.

I guess that explains why Colorado is now a "swing state". I remember the first time I visited Colorado (around 2002), it was a pretty solid Red State...

I think that In-and -Out will be expanding. Hope it will be in your neighborhood.

Thanks, I’m sure they will expand...but they’re certainly cautious about it (which is very smart, as 5-guys will be figuring out, very soon).
