Single fathers want more say in children’s lives
Trinidad & Tobago Guardian ^ | Sep 23, 2012

Rhondall Feeles, founder of the Single Fathers Association of T&T, wants to help single fathers who would like more responsibility in their children’s lives. The group, which he started a month ago, hopes to meet with the incoming Justice Minister, Christlyn Moore, to discuss court orders which place children in the primary care of their mothers. Moore is to be sworn in as minister this week.

Feeles said, “There are men who are willing to be part of their children’s lives and we are embarking on a recruitment drive for fellow supporters and single fathers.” However, he said the group was supportive of single-parent families on the whole, adding that the drive would also target single mothers going through similar distress. The organisation’s latest meeting, at the Chaguanas Sports Facility, drew “a good turnout,” Feeles said.

“There will be another meeting next week. We will hand out flyers at the Family Court and create awareness on the morning shows. We had people come from as far as Tobago,” he said. “We also support women who support men. There are men who have not seen their children in years and many of those children do not have a father figure in their lives. We have women who attended the meeting because they see the significance of having a father in their kids’ lives.”

Feeles said some of the men were emotional throughout the meeting, to the point of tears, because they were frustrated with the system. “Several of the men have not seen their children in years and even broke down in tears.

I've searched in vain for a semi-serious news indicator. Alas, none materialized.

Here's a clue: Love the lass you wish to bear your child. Make sure to your best ability that she loves you. Then marry her.

This works ninety-nine point nine percent of the time.

Rots’O’ Ruck guys.

As a Grandfather who has watched his son screwed over by the courts in favor of a slut he was married to, I can tell you when it comes to men facing women in court over children ,and getting a fair break, It AINT gonna happen.

Adultery by the woman means nothing. They don’t even take it into consideration. She runs off and is living with a man who has plenty of money a house and a new car, while the husband has to sell his house to pay her her half of the marital split, then they take you for Child support and that leaves the man living without a home and his check going to the mother who spends it on herself instead of the child.A broken heart and a broken life.

Kids do best when the dads are married to the moms. How about keeping it in your pants to start with and then your poor child won’t be put through the horrors you and the single mom have in wait for them.

Tell that to the married moms who walk out.

Dear single fathers of T&T:

Marry or stay married to their mothers.

You’re welcome.

Actually it fails over 50% of the time so lets give the dads some support.

Your love scenario is good in theory though.

Right....cause women never get aroused. Or plot. Or scheme. Or have mental break downs. Or cheat.

How about giving men post conception choice?

How stupid.

Most states are no fault divorce states.... so a cheating slattern of a wife can get a divorce no matter what the man thinks or says.

If I recieved written orders from God Almighty, delivered by Gabriel or Michael, that I was to marry....

I might.

But I would file a written protest.

There is no normal way in the world that I would ever go through that crap again.

If you have a living spouse, God would not give you orders to remarry, so don’t worry about it.

lol I guess you are still married in the eyes of God to the first one (assuming it was in a church) and He won’t be “ordering” you to commit adultery by “marrying” another one

So buy her a ring, and you’ll have a lot more say in raising your by-blow.

Its called dating, its where you vet your girlfriend to see if she is wife material. It’s not too hard, generally you determine if she has a desire to stay married (most God fearing woman have this desire) and have kids. Spend a year judging and taking notes. Don’t have sex, that clouds the vision.

Wholla, 2 years later you have a wife that you can hopefully trust. Been with mine since I was 17, told her from the word go that I was looking for a good wife not a quicky. Married 2.5 years later and going to celebrate 19 this year.

Guys are dumb and think with the wrong head. Not judging cause I know that sometimes the wrong thing happens. I also know what happens to kids born in those situations, my parents never date anyone longer than 2 weeks before they decide to get married. Can’t really count how many times they have been married cause some of them only last a couple of weeks.

You dated your wife for 2 and a half years without fooling around?

That advice is like the old Steve Martin joke:

"How to become a millionaire. First step, get a million dollars......"
