I think we’re at the most dangerous time in our political history in terms of the balance of power in the role that the media plays in whether or not we maintain a free democracy or not. You know, when I first started in politics – and for a long time before that – everyone on both sides, Democrats and Republicans, despised the press commonly, because they were SOBs to everybody. Which is exactly what they should be. They were unrelenting. Whatever the biases were, they were essentially equal-opportunity people.

That changed in 1980.

There are a lot of reasons for it. It changed—an important point in the Dukakis-Bush election, when the press literally was trying to get Dukakis elected by ignoring what was happening in Massachusetts, with a candidate who was running on the platform of “He will do for America what he did for Massachusetts”—while they were on the verge of bankruptcy.

Also the change from evening news emphasis to morning news by the networks is another factor that’s been pointed out to me.

Most recently, what I call the nepotism that exists, where people get jobs—they’re married to people who are in the administration, or in politics, whatever.

But the overwhelming bias has become very real and very dangerous. We have a First Amendment for one reason. We have a First Amendment not because the Founding Fathers liked the press—they hated the press—but they believed, as [Thomas] Jefferson said, that in order to have a free country, in order to be a free people, we needed a free press. That was the job—so there was an implicit bargain in the First Amendment, the press being the only institution, at that time, which was in our process of which there was no checks and balances....

Other than Ann Romney, no one is coming out to vote for Romney. They are coming out to vote against the other guy.Romney’s strength in this race is the other guy’s failure. He needs to capitalize on it. To date, he has not been able to circumvent MSM armor in getting that message out.IMHO he needs to go direct.The only message Romney should have 24/7 in the debates and campaign ads is the other guy is a failure. I think most fair minded observers would conclude that we are far, far past the "threatening" stage, if there ever was one.

The media is now fully immersed in aiding and abetting the overthrow of both the constitutional republic and capitalism.
And they are actively working to implement a dictatorial, ultra-left, socialist government and economic system on the country.

The mask is off - they no longer even bother to pretend they are unbiased reporters of factual news.
They have become Obama cheerleaders and a fully owned subsidiary of the democrat party and proud of it.

May have heard this - but was reminded earlier today; that Mitt is using McCain's debate coach. Honestly; do not think I can watch this unfolding. The entire upper 'lexicon' of Republican's appear to be totally against Romney. So much so; that he has been threatened by such; that if he fails this debate; it is over; and Obama wins election.

All to say; the choice between Capitalism; our Constitution; lose; if Mitt does not show superior debating strength against; not only Obama; but entire biased Lefty MSM who is orchestrating debates.

What losers we have; guiding/orchestrating Mitt and his Campaign.

For or against Mitt; and whatever motivations for voting for him; the only bottom line is 'saving our Country' - and with last chance of doing so - we must insure that he wins this Election.

There will be no Repub 'corrections' in 2016. . .this is IT, folks.

I believe segments of the press are very anti-American with the purpose of ovethrowing our constitutional government and economic system. They are working hand in hand with the hostile elements in our government, academe and economic sectors.

They are domestic terrorists and should be subject to investigation of subversive activities.

The amazing thing about the chart is you cannot find ONE place where the Dems are performing close to 2008, and almost all counties where the GOP is hugely outperforming Dems (going from 2:1 deficit to actual leads).

I don’t know who his debate coach is- but he did fine with the one he used when he smacked down Newt...so I’m hoping it’s the same guy.

All I would ask is that Romney run his general election campaign like he ran the primaries. I was not a Romney supporter but his campaign instinctively knew when to go for the jugular to get the other guy’s numbers down. Gingrich can testify to that.Apparently, he has been neutered in the general election to date. Still waiting for the knives to come out and the bloodletting to begin. Hopefully the debates will be a kickoff.

Yes, the media have been biased for decades. Why don't the Republicans do something about it? Why should we continue to give the Republican Party when they won't fight back with it? The Democrats fight all-out war 365 days a year; we are doomed to Marxism and eternal Democratic control until we have a Republican Party which fights back equally hard.

I would not disagree with anything you have stated. It can be argued that they are committing treason against our U.S. Constitution.

If I was writing a story on how this would play out with our Founders fighting back, it would include many many trials for high treason. Those found guilty would receive the maximum penalty imposed in short order.

We are truly witnessing our Republic being destroyed from within. For the life of me, I can't see any way back to Liberty except through a total collapse. Then we have to hope actions unfold to restore a Constitutional Republic.

In the next few years we will be witness to history the likes not see in our Republic for over 150 years, if not 236 years.

Caddell's speech is a must listen. It is very powerful.
