Some of us have seen an election or two. There are some who have gone frantic on this thread, entirely off point of senate fundraising.

We’re willing be hopeful. We’re willing to vote.

We’re not willing to be deluded, nor suckers, nor gamed, nor intimidated by the peanut gallery and cheerleader types, who try to shut down discussion with all the name calling, overcome with hysteria.

Grow up.

I’m no fan of Romney, but he was frankly the only one without insurmountable baggage.

What type of baggage is "insurmountable"? Having been divorced twice? Being the architect of Romneycare? Being an anti-American Marxist who is friendly with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers? The myth of Newt's insurmountable baggage was a convenient meme for the GOP to use when trashing Gingrich. A lot of baggage can be overcome if you have the support of your party. And as Obama has proven, there is literally no type of baggage that can't be overcome if you have the support of the national news media.

What’s happening is the same thing that happened in London during the Olympics. Everyone heard the stories about how there was going to be unspeakable crowding and hassle, so tourists stayed away in droves. London was a ghost town for three weeks, and the pub and restaurant owners and taxi drivers lost their shirts.

We’ve all been told that Romney would be swimming in cash from his Wall Street cronies, so we’re all assuming that his problem is not financial. I know I am giving less than I did to McCain (actually Palin).

nope, anyone BUT Romney would have destroyed Obama, thus why I tried so freaking hard to nominate ANYONE but Romney.

*sigh*

He will do everything by Executive Order and the Congress will be unable to stop him.

Slight correction,

He will do everything by Executive Order and the Congress will be unable unwilling to stop him.

I don't understand why anyone would “be at a loss” with this situation. As I and many others pointed out long ago, Romney is not an “inspiring” candidate, and the media would hand pick him to run against Obama.

While it is not entirely the “fault” of the MSM, they have played their role in this, and it began long ago.

The two primary issues are the makeup of the electorate and the lack of a formidable candidate.

Almost half of Americans are more than happy not to “rock the boat” and want their freebies to continue. That portion of American voters is only getting larger. Nothing will stop that trend outside of civil war.

“Want to guess who a Romney nominee might be to replace a retiring Justice Scalia? Do you believe Romney will appoint a strong conservative to replace Ginsberg, Breyer, or Kennedy?”

Then no, now yes. Since he was unleashed from Massachusetts, where he was in the same position as Scott Brown is currently, surrounded by the enemy, he can now act the way he, I believe, truly is, a conservative at heart. This was confirmed by what he said at a private event he didn’t know someone was illegally taping, about the 47%. This guy gets it.

I got an email from the Romney campaign tonite saying they have been using a lot of their money on organizing the ground game which is where they feel the battle will truly be fought out. So that is where a lot of the money is going.

A lot is going there. A lot is also going to consultant salaries.

As to Karl Rove, so many like to slam the guy of late, although you all loved him when Bush was running. Rove has done yoeman’s duty collecting money for his super pac; he has been the main force behind it, and lots of the money he is gathering is going for Senate and House campaigns all over the U.S. So I wouldn’t be too quick to knock him day and night.

My problem isnt with Rove's fundraising. It's with his spending. Where is all that money going? Precious little on TV. And Crossroads has no boots on the ground. I'm genuinely concerned. Part of the problem with his groups is that there's very little accountability - and very little product for all the effort. As for Rove's bona fides i guess I'm suspicious of any political strategist who seeks fame. The good ones are generally not household names.

Is it true you beat your baby? You prove the negative.

If you can’t make your case, at least say so. No FReeper throws the word “hate” around onto others like you do. You are projecting rather than discussing, calling others liars.

Chill.

Yes it is, especially when there are so many “micro questions” in which Romney is leading in polls, such as with the middle-class (depending if you believe the poll that came out a few days ago or the spurious one from today), the enthusiasm gap, the gap in which party is gaining in registration in swing states, with Catholics (last poll I saw, app a week ago, which I understand is unusual), loss of youth vote, who more people trust with the economy and toctae jobs, and on and on. There’s no way even some of these factors are true but “woe is us, it’s gone with the wind” and this before the debates. Plus the media massaging the polls, and the history of this same thing happening when Reagan beat Carter-all the polls showed Carter with a big lead until just days before the actual election. The media knows what it’s doing with this misinformation campaign, I would hope that Freepers would be sophisticated enough or at least used to these tactics enough to dismiss them right now. Let it unfold, even the in-the-tank pollsters will have to tighten up before the election unless they’re in on some plan to help Hussein cheat too.

That’s just it, he’s not losing his donors, his own campaign has come out with a statement refuting this. They just wouldn’t say anything if it were true.

Unless Mitt does poorly, during ANY of the debates. Once again, the left controls everything involving all of the debates, and the left will be tougher on Mitt than Barack. Also, the left will “positive spin” for Barack, no matter what happens, during each and every debate. Strange stuff going on, when considering that, both, Barack and Mitt are leftists.

I didn’t favor Romney to win, but the GOP or anyone else did not force Romney on anyone. Too many people voted for him in the primaries and most of the challengers simply self destructed against him IMO.

I liked Cain, Gingrich and so forth, but they kind of imploded.

Romney is what we have and I hope he takes it.

I disagree, the establishment went after Palin within weeks in 2008, because they knew that she would become the nominee in 2012, or 2016 depending on that election.

I think that Perry did his little feint to block her entry during the primary, and as far as Gingrich, he was wiped out in Florida by "Bloody Thursday" when all the party guns from Drudge to Limbaugh, to Beck came out to stop him.

Romney has been groomed for this since at least 2006. Romney is a real member of the liberal wing of the GOP.
