We Live Under a Media Coup d’État
PJ Media ^ | 10/2/12 | Roger L Simon

Posted on 10/02/2012 6:02:47 AM PDT by Lakeshark

Coup d’états come in a variety of forms.

Some are violent with arrogant colonels pointing forty-fives at the temples of their predecessors and blowing their brains out; others are stealthy with the citizens awakening on an ordinary morning to find their whole world has changed yet not a drop of blood has been shed.

The latter is what has happened in America.

We are the victims of a media coup d’état and are currently living under it.

You will see that clearly in evidence on Wednesday night when the debates commence, each one moderated by a member of the liberal media nomenklatura. It is under the guidance of this liberalism, under their own version of sharia, if you will, that the debates will be conducted and Mitt Romney judged.
**snip**
This class, more than any, determined that Barack Obama should be president and they consequently will work more assiduously than any to assure his reelection, because a failure in that would be a serious, perhaps fatal, attack on their hegemony.

The coup would be in danger of a counter-coup. That can’t be allowed to happen. No facts, no events (Benghazi, Fast & Furious, endless unemployment, a healthcare fiasco) will get in the away or be allowed to be given serious credence.

**snip**
And the rest of us sat outside, tweeting, blogging, hoping Charles Krauthammer would say something smart on Fox News or Rush would get his revenge. But the narrative is set. The coup has taken hold. It’s too late now — or is it? We live in a Media State.

They can influence us more by what they choose not to report - no persuasion necessary.

Case in point, the mainstream media had to choose between two stories:

1) A sitting President allowed attacks on our Embassies, the murder of four Americans, and our Ambassador to be dragged through the streets. Information came out that the WH knew days in advance. No retaliation of any kind, instead the WH issues an apology for an American film, right before the President heads to Las Vegas.

OR

2) The Republican candidate issues a statement on the attack.

Needless to say they went with the second. ;-(

[They MSM leaned lib from Roosevelt on, but until the Nixon take down, it hadn’t become so obvious.]

In the aftermath of Watergate young activists flocked to journalism schools and into U.S. newsrooms and TV stations. They founded a fledgling cult. Eventually they became senior reporters, editors, columnists, editorial writers, anchors and commentators. They remain the gatekeepers of recruiting and hiring in the news business and enforce political conformity with an iron hand.

Thankfully we have conservative talkradio, Foxnews, and the internet to counterbalance.

Sadly, that's no counterbalance. People have to actively seek out talk radio and unbiased internet news. The MSM, meanwhile, is still mostly television-based - and it is *everywhere*. Picking up someone at the airport? Oh, look: CNN is on every screen. Waiting for your car's oil to be changed? You get to pass the time with MSNBC. And so on, ad nauseum.

While TV news is losing some ground to the alternative mendia, it's not happening fast enough.

The media are already imploding. 10 years ago combined viewership of the 3 news networks was 30 million. Now it is less than 8 million while Drudge is over 30 million per day.

As Limbaugh says, no one believes the media anymore. They are just reporting to impress their colleagues. Look at how the alternative media turned the skewed polls around and forced the media to report more accurately. The internet has become a great equalizer. There are hundreds of millions of us and a few hundred thousand of them. Our numbers will make them irrelevant.

The media is are already falling apart. Going into these debates if they treat Romney unfairly the alternative media will create that narrative. Most everyone does not like to be lied to and scammed. The media are pegged as scam artists already. The tied is already turning.

FOLLOW THE MONEY TRAIL. IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT THE MONEY.

They may love Obama, but it's really about the money.

These "journolists" accept bribes from the Soros types.

Anyone out there, who can access the money trail, that's what we need. Evidence of corruption. We know it's there, all we have to do is find it.

Once we do that, we can fundamentally sue them for malpractice and fraud.

The new media is doing the job the old MSM will not do.

“At least in recent times, there’s some evidence that the liberal media has little sway on elections.”

They had sway, which is why winning was so difficult. Just because some conservatives candidate won doesn’t mean it was easy. Also, that others that lost shouldn’t have lost. The media has a dramatic effect.

"It is also true if it weren't for the MSM journolists I don't think Bambi would even get 40% of the vote. That's a lot of power. "

And Romney wouldn't be the Republican candidate without their influence either.

Precisely.

And the new media is changing the narrative as soon as the old media dreams it up. The MSM is like the church in Europe 100 years ago. That church was crumbling under its own hypocrisy to the point now that the church in Europe is a skeleton. The MSM is also crumbling under its own hypocrisy. You can see it everywhere.

I remember a few weeks ago when the US Ambassador to the UN actually said with a straight face that the murder of the Libyan ambassador had nothing to do with America hatred. At the same time there were pictures of US flag burnings all over the Middle East. In other words, it was very obvious that the ambassador had been murdered because they hate us over there but the UN ambassador somehow thought that she could make us believe anything with the help of the MSM. They are so arrogant and contemptuous of us out here that they think that if they say something is so it will be.

In reality, we saw right through it as they were saying it. They look so amateurish and incompetent in the MSM because they have nothing else to fool us with. The cat is out of the bag and we do not buy it anymore. Their attempts to spin is so childish that it is no longer credible yet they keep trying even though it simply is not being accepted.

That is a dead giveaway that the end has come for the MSM.

The media is are already falling apart.

And given current financial reports, without a bailout they'll start shutting down within a year. Hence the full-court press for Obama.

You need to defund the left...cancel cable, turn your back on entertainment, such as music, sports, and such. Homeschool your children. As long as you continue to lend your financial support to these enterprises; nothing will change. Nothing.
