A new survey of physicians shows that if the Presidential election were held today, 55 percent would vote for Mitt Romney and 36 percent would support President Obama, according to a survey conducted byJackson & Coker, a division of Jackson Healthcare, the third largest healthcare staffing company in the US.
The physician survey showed that 5 percent of doctors said they were undecided and the rest said they would support another candidate or were not planning to vote.
The late September survey included 3,660 doctors nationwide in 50 states. The physicians identified themselves as 24 percent Democrat; 35 percent Republican; 26 percent Independent; 6 percent Libertarian; and 7 percent unaffiliated.
Among doctors more likely to support President Obama were women as well as physicians employed by hospitals and health systems. Specialists, primarily psychiatrists, pediatricians and addiction medicine physicians also were more likely to support Obama. Male doctors and those with their own practice or who had a stake in their own practice as well as anesthesiologists, surgeons, radiologists and ophthalmologists were more likely to support Romney.
The President’s support has waned among physicians since 2008 when he drew 40 percent of their vote compared to 44 percent for John McCain.
Turnout among physicians is also likely to increase compared to 2008, as eight percent reported they didn’t vote in 2008, yet only 1 percent of doctors said they would not cast a ballot in the November Presidential election.

And, those 36 percent supporters are either hard-left, politically dull, or very arrogant types that believe they will always be treated as near-gods and who don’t dirty themselves with concerns about reimbursements and revenues. They assume it is someone else’s responsibility to deal with money and pay them their high salary. Some of them are all of the above. That has been my personal observation.
But there are enough doctors who will make a big difference in the failure of ObamaCare by retiring, relocating their practices to another country, or establishing concierge practices “for members only.”
Who will suffer most? Those on Medicare and Medicaid who will be swept into the substandard maws of government health care with far too few doctors to handle the load. It certainly won’t be the President and Congress, who will be exempt from this mess by their design.

Hmmm, it would appear that those who were at the top of the SATs (physicians) tend to vote for Romney, whilst those at the bottom (journalists) tend to vote for the Obamadork/felon/cretin.
And libs keep trying to appear that they are actually intelligent.

About 55% of physicians are hospital or government employees now. This is a considerable increase from 10 years ago when most doctors worked in private practice (solo or groups). As physicians become captive to their employer, their priorities will be more alligned with their employer’s interests than their patients’ interests.
The hard leftist types are where you would expect: large academic hospitals in major urban centers. These people are the most arrogant and loathesome leftist pukes you will ever meet. The politically dull are typically also urbanites working for large hospital corporations. These individuals are ususally too timid or untalented to have made it in the competitive world of private practice. These folks are deficent in confidence and critical thinking; just the atributes that are most essential for success as a physician.
They believe that they will elevate themselves by dragging down those who are above them.
There are enough to notice if they go on strike.
Any of those 36% arent’t coming anywhere near me (or my dog)
BTW, I was told by someone in the industry that a new piece of ObamaCare is about to kick in;
If a patient is released from the hospital and has a recurrence of symptoms, for a condition they were just treated for, within 30 days after release the hospital can be fined up to $125,000 per patient. Nice huh?
Doctors supporting anyone is something of no interest to me. Vote Romney, but what doctors think is less than meaningful.
Imagine that, medical professionals resent having their businesses hijacked and run by sleazy DC lawyers and faceless bureaucrats.
My experience has been the opposite. The For Profit sector knows where their bread will receive the most butter -- by supporting the Health Care Reform law. Yes they see penalties, taxes, cumbersome new regulation. They also see new revenue streams, new government subsidies, and millions of new insured souls to make a dollar off of. The mantra from the board room is speak no evil of HCR. After all, these CEO's helped to write the law, they will do their best to see that their employees support the program.
I would guess that most of the docs who are against Obama are in private practice who fear and loathe Obamacare (I’ve spoken with a number of them).
The docs who are pro-Obama work in the public institutions (county hosptals, VA, teach at public universities etc.)
I forgot about the for profit sector.I spent my career at non profit hospitals and in my neck of the woods for profit hospitals are uncommon.That sector may well have an entirely different view.
You have added some useful information about leftist physicians. I agree they often appear in university hospitals, are employed by hospitals rather than being in private practice or physician-owned clinics. I have run into them in the big cities, too.
