How many days in a year is Romney even at his La Jolla home? The ad seems to be partly to remind people that he is rich. It comes from AFSCME which has always been a militantly left-wing outfit (at least for decades).

I collected trash one summer for the NYC Department of Parks. I loved it! One of my favorite jobs ever. Of course, I was 19 at the time. Not a lot of money, but not in the least stressful, plenty of exercise, you’re outdoors enjoying the sunshine. I never felt sorry for myself for a second doing it.
Since the Obummer ads are playing the empathy card. this gives the Romney pacs the green light to embarrass Obama in the way he ignores his family: his aunt in public housing and his brother George in the Kenyan hut who had to beg Dinesh D’Souza for $1000 dollars of medical assistance for his daughter, I believe, because he said he has nowhere else to go.
When I was stationed in Havana in the 90s, I had an excellent relationship with garbage collectors. Every Christmas I gave them several bottles of Havana Club Rum and an envelope with some $$$. They treated me like a rock star.

12 Million for a house is a bit too much... IMHO, but I will never be jealous of it!! (Derek Jeter's house on Davis Island (Tampa) is a tourist ATTRACTION.).
Richard, the garbage man, laments that his body will be worn out by age 55 due to the rigors of his job. La Jolla, which is part of the city of San Diego, like many other municipalities, has trash receptacles on wheels which are placed at the curb by the citizen such that the forks of the garbage/trash truck can grasp the container without any lifting by the collector. That being the case, IMO the job is not so strenuous as to cause a premature breakdown of the body. Garbage man Freepers can correct me. As others have pointed out, it’s a good job.
