When was the last time you heard a conversation that went anything like:
"May I sit here?""It's a free country."
My son works for LM. The employees were told they would get WARN notices the 1st of Nov. He even knows how many in his dept. are being laid off. We’re hoping he isn’t one of them.....guess we won”t know in advance, now.
I would point out that not only did they apparently tell every employee that they would be sending layoff notices out, they just told every employee that they would not be sending layoff notices out, and why.
It hardly looks like they are keeping them in the dark, unless they are all idiots. Which I suspect they are not.
didn’t they just do that, at least for the employees that pay attention to the news?
I have some personal and professional reasons for disliking LM. This kind of BS just reinforces them.
I hear you and I’m also little chagrined at the idea that LM will needlessly stress a lot of employees who aren’t getting laid off.
Morale must be great there.

Oh no I don’t mean to let that lawless imposter off the hook at all. My point is that he is just drawing attention to his thumbing his nose at the law and how shameless he is doing that, all the while pretending that these people are somehow gonna be fooled that their jobs are safe? I don’t think so they know it just like you and I know it. It’s a joke and IMO he’s making himself the butt of it is my point.

I’m not defending anybody. I’m pointing out that the employees aren’t “in the dark”. There’s multiple major news stories, and they were all told why they weren’t getting layoff notices.
I would assume that everybody in the defense industry is keenly aware of what is going on with sequestration.
I think the defense companies should all send out notices, and ignore the Obama quidance. On the other hand, if I were a stockholder and a company I owned lost contracts in retaliation, I’d be perturbed. Corporations might be cowardly, but it’s a lot easier for an individual to stand up and take a risk, than it is for a publicly-owned company.
That’s not defending any company for not sending out notices. There is a difference between understanding and agreement. And there is a difference between not finding fault, and agreeing.
