Did you know that one-third of children in Ohio are enrolled in Medicaid? Neither did I, until last week when I picked up a copy of the Bucyrus (Ohio) Telegraph-Forum and read down to the seventh paragraph of a story headlined, "Study says more children have health insurance."
The positive spin in the headline was undercut by the statistical facts of the story: "The increase in children on insurance comes as median incomes across the state were relatively flat, and the percentage of families in poverty -- especially those with children -- rose slightly." An increase in poverty, in other words, actually reduced the number of uninsured children by qualifying them for coverage under a government program for the poor. Such was the substance of the explanation by Angela Krile, spokeswoman for the Ohio Children's Hospital Association, who said: "Really, this just shows the importance of Medicaid in our state for children."
Americans have become accustomed to this sort of "good news" in the Obama era, and there was more of it in that small-town Ohio paper. "Unemployment remains the same," declared the headline across the top of the front page. The story explained that, although the official unemployment rate in Crawford County, Ohio (population 43,389) declined from 9 percent in July to 8 percent in August, it wasn't because more people were working. "Since the number of employed stayed the same, 200 people went off of unemployment because their time limit is up and they have not found work yet," Dave Williamson, director of the Crawford County Economic Development Partnership, told the Bucyrus paper. "We have no more people working than we did last month."
Extrapolate such statistical hocus-pocus at the local level across the entire state of Ohio, or nationwide, and you understand how some people might be

I'm quite convinced that the election will be stolen. Early voting, absentee voting, and plain ol' ballot box stuffing will all play roles. I think the polls are manipulated to convince the sheeple that an Obama victory won't be surprising. I expect the debate coverage to convince a lot of people that Romney is failing to be presidential.
In the end, the votes won't even be counted. Obama will be declared the winner. He could steal it completely openly -- exit polls indicate a 53% Romney victory? Final tally shows a 53% Obama victory? [shrug] Whatever.
The GOP isn't likely to make a stink. They never do.
The media will be aware, but they won't make a stink. If anyone does try to ask uncomfortable questions, the cities will start to burn. "You can't steal that election!! He won!!"
Nope. In our current moral climate, I think Obama can openly, blatantly, brazenly steal the election -- and he will dare you to do something about it.
Here is more truth.. when calculating poverty statistics, the government does NOT include non-cash benefits. A person can receive food stamps, “free” housing, “free” meals for the kiddies at school, “free” public education for the kiddies, “free” medical care, the Obamaphone, be making a small salary (what they choose to report), and still be counted as living in poverty.
If you had your housing, food, utilities, education for the kids (not to mention the free babysitting), cell phone, and maybe some “free” government cheese provided, and made some cash besides, would you be living in poverty? You might be poor, in some sense, but you would not be a case of living-on-a-garbage-dump poverty. All government statistics are lies.
That’s sort of like how John Stossel proved that a good panhandler can make over $40K a year tax-free. That’s more than the take-home pay for a lot of gainfully employed.

You know, a strong conscience can be quite an impediment. If it weren’t for that, I would be tempted to sign up for disability benefits. Apparently a hangnail is enough to qualify. Then we have relatives who have been out of work for so long that they are getting desperate, but they won’t take welfare or food stamps. But how long can people hold out in the face of not being able to feed their kids? This is the real problem with the welfare state. At some point it forces everyone to take part in the corruption.
