When Barack Obama and Mitt Romney face off for the first time at tonight’s presidential debate in Denver, they’ll also be taking a lie detector test.
A spokesman for the group Americans for Limited Government told The Daily Caller on Wednesday they have contracted with a company to use new truth detecting technology to determine whether either candidate is lying during the debate.
“For the first time, within a few hours of a political debate, the American people will know if the candidates are telling the truth, and better be able to judge what promises are real, and which ones are nothing more than political pandering,” Bill Wilson, president of Americans for Limited Government said.
The conservative-leaning group says they hope to release the results from Voice Analysis Technology within three hours of the debate.
“The operating assumption by the general public is that if a politician’s mouth is moving, he or she must be lying, by putting Obama and Romney to the test, we will find out if this is true,” Wilson said.
Voice Analysis Technology, according to a news release, has done work for high-profile criminal cases including for the case of Natalie Holloway, the Alabama high school student who died in Aruba.

This is BS because stress the factor that is measured and speaking live in front of millions is stressful for everybody. There will be nothing real here.
What utter B.S. Actions speak louder than words ... put the accomplishments (good & bad) of both men up side-by-side and readily see who should be in jail and who should be in the WH.

I must have missed that. I am so glad we have fact checkers now and responding so quickly. It seemed it took forever in the past debates to get the real facts out.
Obama will tell the truth 110% of the time, and Romney will lie 100% of the time.
The problem is that Obama believes his own lies, and the rest of the time, he doesn’t even know when he is lying. For instance, if he doesn’t know how much the deficit is, he cannot lie about it.
Besides, we all learned from watching Homeland that Muslims can beat a polygraph test because it’s ok to lie to non-Muslims.
The first beep will come when Barack Obama says, “Hello, my name is Barack Obama.”
The second beep will come when Mitt Romney says, “Hello, my name is Mitt Romney, and I’m a republican.”
When Obama claims to be an American, and Romney claims to be a conservative, the machinery will melt.
Hope they have an honest microphone that doesn’t “correct” voice patterns before the VSA goes to work.

Anyway possible to point a few of those things at the talking heads? That might be revealing.....
Voice stress truth detectors have been around for years, and speeches and debates take them into account, with all kinds of evasions.
1) Lies can be of commission or omission. If you know you would be caught in a lie if you answered directly, don’t answer directly.
2) Avoid absolutes. Practice sound bites ahead of time and insert them in when the opportunity presents.
3) Intentional stresses and attacks will often conceal the stress of lies.
This list really goes on and on.
this is a machine we have had for a while, it’s called a PSE, Psychological stress evaluator and it works...

The signals any machine will get will have been gained through initial editing at the source plus the digital reduction algorithms used before uplink transmissions thru satellite and digital fiber optics. ( Addditionally audio compression limiters will modulate the extreme low and high amplitudes of the debaters’ voices to reduce audio distortion so that the sound sources have a narrow bandwidth of say 20 to 30 db’s.} Then the signals are processed again before sending them on thru cable networks to the viewer’s television sets including the equip used to “process” the voices for stress analysis. There will not be anyway these folks can get a direct feed from the candidates mouths so that their “stress” modulation peaks and valleys can be analyzed directly by themachine itself.
In short without a direct feed from candidate to machine, the data will be useless. What’s worse, if the folks at the preprocessing side know about the “lie detector” folks, they might be politically motivated to tinker with the audio feed to introduce false stress artifacts of the hated politcal candidate into the uplink feed.
Both candidates are getting intel updates that they can’t necessarily talk about, so if they are asked questions touching on sensitive data, the machine may pick up on
both candates personal stress when they avoid or spin a question that relates to that sensitive material. (though I suppose an answer such as “I will not talk about that issue since national security may be involved” might be how an otherwise honest candiate gets around such questions)
