An acclaimed Denver restaurant that told Mitt Romney to lunch elsewhere is facing some backlash.
After the GOP presidential candidate chose Chipotle for a lunch drop-by yesterday, the Mexican fast food chain got a lot of glory in the press after a Romney posing with staffers went viral. But it turns out the chain eatery was a fallback. And now the family-owned restaurant is paying a big price after a Westword blog post reported on its refusal to host the candidate.
We lost a big order today, Oscar Aguirre, co-owner of Rosa Lindas, told The Daily. Somebody called in and ordered $120 worth of food.
Later, Aguirre said, the customer called back and asked, "Arent you the restaurant that canceled Romney?"
He said the customer hung-up and canceled.

I have to admit, I still love to eat at Valois’ on 53rd when I am in the area, even though Obama ate there frequently.
How does a customer hang up and then cancel?
Why does a franchise owner take credit for his ‘amazing’ food?
We’re Mitt Romney’s civil rights violated at this public accomodation?
My mistake - Chipotle is not the place that turned him away.
Another journalism major?
Then again, this is Chipotle and the food is FAR from amazing. I hate paying premium prices for Mexican food thats nothing but beans and rice.

If I was a restaraunt owner I would allow anyone to eat there as long as they behaved. Even Obama. Refusing someone is different. They hurt themselves.
What kind of BS is this? Why in the world would a “Mormon owned” restaurant refuse to allow Romney to eat there? What the heck do they mean, “How would that look?” That would look like the restaurant was hosting a group of paying customers for lunch. Now they look discriminatory. Or fearful. Either way, they look stupid.
And since when does the propriator of a business have to ask his parents whether a particular customer can eat there? There has to be more to this story.
Any business that refuses to do business doesn’t belong in business...
Remember when Hillary ate free at some diner in upstate New York and stiffed the waitress out of a tip?
My wife and decided to try them and we ate at the local Chipolte Grill for the first time this past Saturday after she had just completed a basic rifle class by the way.
We ordered the beef tacos. Yuck. The meat was cut in large chunks and was tough and gristley. We left the so called food on the table and walked out telling each other that we would not be returning to that ptomaine palace.
Chipotle Grill Hepatitis A Outbreak Lawsuits
In late April of 2008, San Diego County health officials announced that a number of hepatitis A infections had been traced to the consumption of food purchased from the Chipotle Grill restaurant located at 8005 Fletcher Parkway in La Mesa, California, near San Diego. Officials advised customers who had eaten at the restaurant between March 1 and April 22 that they might be at risk for infection. More than twenty people who ate at the La Mesa restaurant tested positive for hepatitis A infection. Seven of those victims contacted Marler Clark for assistance with their cases.
Marler Clark filed three hepatitis A lawsuits on behalf of victims of the hepatitis A outbreak traced to the Chipotle Grill.
I don’t care for Chipotle either, but it was Rosa Linda’s that turned down Romney.
True freedom, of course, means they are free do do business or refuse business as they desire. But all of our free will choices have consequences. I guess the "in kind" donation to 0bama is more valuable to them than future profits. It sucks to be stupid.
Perhaps there is more to this story, it doesn’t sound like they meant to dis Romney, rather they chose to stay out of the political fray. Seeing that other restaurants have suffered by having candidates come in... I could understand saying no to any political campaign.
My son loved Chipotle for some reason, and he still eats there sometimes. But now he mostly eats at Qdoba. I actually like the food at Qdoba, although to be honest the only thing I eat there is the chicken quesadilla. They are friendly and their food seems well-prepared.
I hated Chipotle.
Frankly, this almost sounds like an attempt to make this restaurant into a victim, as an attack on Romney. I doubt the Romney campaign cared whether the restaurant served them or not, I know I don’t care.
The article was written in such a way to make you make the mistake.
Your mistake was the intent of the article.
I think it is just how it seems. They said “how would it look”. Sounds like they buy into all the leftist demonization. Maybe they cater to the food stamp crowd.
Chipotle is where Romney did eat.
Rosa Lindas turned them away.
They can make any excuses they want to make in the aftermath of stiff arming a presidental candidate.
Dems get full of their nasty selves and overplay their hand when they have power - especially when they are playing race power. They probably support illegal labor. They built their house on sand.
Makes no difference.
Since Chipolte Grill was mentioned in the article, I believe that my experience eating there was relevant to the article posted.
I DID read the article before posting and saw that it was some other restaurant allegedly Mormon owned.
So go ahead and spend your time complaining about other freepers all that you want.
Have a nice day with spending your time criticizing other freepers. Sheesh.
So if a restaurant didn’t want to do a photo op with Obama... the same would hold true?
We’ve always been in business for ourselves, including running a retail store.... in an extremely democratic area, which means you don’t get political.
This sort of thing bothers me... I can completely understand not wanting to appear divisive, you are in business to make money not pander to one group or another.
Don't feel bad, I had to read it three times to figure it out. Very Poorly written.
Steve Ells is the founder of Chipotle restaurant...a very quick search shows that Mr. Ells contributed $1500 in 2009 to the Patrick Murphy(D)for congress campaign...just sayin’
The owner claims Romney and his staff were welcome to eat there. IOW, they were not denied service. The restaurant somehow got the impression that Romney wanted to make the stop something in the nature of a campaign event - press, make remarks, etc., and that is what the owner turned down. It's a "fellow Mormon," so Romney probably thought there would be a bond that supported the lending of a helping hand.
Looks like their dogma got run over by a karma.....
Oh, I did not realize that Romney requested a “photo-op” with the resturant owner... He didn’t request that. You made it up.
Romney’s people just wanted to make arrangements for a large contingent to eat at the resturant and was told he couldn’t.
That’s okay. The owner can turn away business cause he’s are a big fat commie if that works for him. Seems like a stupid business decision to me.
The resturant owner is spinning in the aftermath of a stupid and insulting decision to deny service to Repubicans. That’s okay if he thinks he’s in an election of some sort. Dems do it all the time and often end up regreting it.
I had no idea whether it was a photo op or not.
I just find boycotts cringe worthy in general, and given the political climate can completely understand not wanting to appear supportive of either side publicly.
But if you’d like to simplify the issue to whether one is a “commie” or not... be my guest lol
I haven’t been to Chipotle in 5 years but it used to be GREAT! In Rancho Cucamonga Ca.
I do silent boycotts. For example I don’t care for Barbra Streisand’s politics and so I don’t buy her records. Same with Madonna, Bono, etc. I boycott with my wallet.
lol...the irony
here in Nashville area Chipotle is a favorite of the young leftist crowd
the man scarves and Prius bunch
as a side note...those fresh leafy Mex joints like Chipotle or Baja Burrito are ok at times..hipsters love it
but if you really want SW Mex or Tex mex...screw that crap
it needs to be wet dripping and cheesy...and overwhelmingly tasty..like an orgasm of massive food stimuli...and chili chili and chili taste
Gov. Romney we respect, he said. If hes sitting president well open our doors with open arms.
Really? LOL
You are Mormons and you let Romney stand with a national chain founded by a homosexual? (Not that there’s anything wrong with that).
LOL, again.
You have got to be kidding me? You will actually wait until he is President to seat him but, for now you want to keep your religion and politics away from your restaurant?
Someone ain’t right in the head.
Yep!
No illegal Mexicans also means the possibility of Asian workers back in Houston’s Chinese/Japanese/Thai restaurants’ kitchens...
I'm sure the waitress still remembers!
I think Clinton sent her a twenty or something to make it up and blamed the omission on her staff. The owner, of course, was delighted to have Hillary eat there just for the publicity, she was still something of a celebrity in those days, the wife betrayed by the most famous fellatrix in history. The last four years have taken a lot of shine off the pants suit. Oh, she did it more than once:
