Romney's Restaurant Effect-Eatery loses after refusing GOP nominee

An acclaimed Denver restaurant that told Mitt Romney to lunch elsewhere is facing some backlash.

After the GOP presidential candidate chose Chipotle for a lunch drop-by yesterday, the Mexican fast food chain got a lot of glory in the press after a Romney posing with staffers went viral. But it turns out the chain eatery was a fallback. And now the family-owned restaurant is paying a big price after a Westword blog post reported on its refusal to host the candidate.

“We lost a big order today,” Oscar Aguirre, co-owner of Rosa Linda’s, told The Daily. “Somebody called in and ordered $120 worth of food.

Later, Aguirre said, the customer called back and asked, "Aren’t you the restaurant that canceled Romney?"

He said the customer “hung-up” and canceled.

My son loved Chipotle for some reason, and he still eats there sometimes. But now he mostly eats at Qdoba. I actually like the food at Qdoba, although to be honest the only thing I eat there is the chicken quesadilla. They are friendly and their food seems well-prepared.

I hated Chipotle.

Frankly, this almost sounds like an attempt to make this restaurant into a victim, as an attack on Romney. I doubt the Romney campaign cared whether the restaurant served them or not, I know I don’t care.

It wasn't an innocent mistake.

The article was written in such a way to make you make the mistake.

Your mistake was the intent of the article.

I think it is just how it seems. They said “how would it look”. Sounds like they buy into all the leftist demonization. Maybe they cater to the food stamp crowd.

Chipotle is where Romney did eat.
Rosa Lindas turned them away.

They can make any excuses they want to make in the aftermath of stiff arming a presidental candidate.

Dems get full of their nasty selves and overplay their hand when they have power - especially when they are playing race power. They probably support illegal labor. They built their house on sand.

Makes no difference.

Since Chipolte Grill was mentioned in the article, I believe that my experience eating there was relevant to the article posted.

I DID read the article before posting and saw that it was some other restaurant allegedly Mormon owned.

So go ahead and spend your time complaining about other freepers all that you want.

Have a nice day with spending your time criticizing other freepers. Sheesh.

So if a restaurant didn’t want to do a photo op with Obama... the same would hold true?

We’ve always been in business for ourselves, including running a retail store.... in an extremely democratic area, which means you don’t get political.

This sort of thing bothers me... I can completely understand not wanting to appear divisive, you are in business to make money not pander to one group or another.

“My mistake - Chipotle is not the place that turned him away.”

Don't feel bad, I had to read it three times to figure it out. Very Poorly written.

Steve Ells is the founder of Chipotle restaurant...a very quick search shows that Mr. Ells contributed $1500 in 2009 to the Patrick Murphy(D)for congress campaign...just sayin’

The owner claims Romney and his staff were welcome to eat there. IOW, they were not denied service. The restaurant somehow got the impression that Romney wanted to make the stop something in the nature of a campaign event - press, make remarks, etc., and that is what the owner turned down. It's a "fellow Mormon," so Romney probably thought there would be a bond that supported the lending of a helping hand.

Oh, I did not realize that Romney requested a “photo-op” with the resturant owner... He didn’t request that. You made it up.

Romney’s people just wanted to make arrangements for a large contingent to eat at the resturant and was told he couldn’t.

That’s okay. The owner can turn away business cause he’s are a big fat commie if that works for him. Seems like a stupid business decision to me.

The resturant owner is spinning in the aftermath of a stupid and insulting decision to deny service to Repubicans. That’s okay if he thinks he’s in an election of some sort. Dems do it all the time and often end up regreting it.

I had no idea whether it was a photo op or not.
I just find boycotts cringe worthy in general, and given the political climate can completely understand not wanting to appear supportive of either side publicly.

But if you’d like to simplify the issue to whether one is a “commie” or not... be my guest lol

I do silent boycotts. For example I don’t care for Barbra Streisand’s politics and so I don’t buy her records. Same with Madonna, Bono, etc. I boycott with my wallet.

lol...the irony

here in Nashville area Chipotle is a favorite of the young leftist crowd

the man scarves and Prius bunch

as a side note...those fresh leafy Mex joints like Chipotle or Baja Burrito are ok at times..hipsters love it

but if you really want SW Mex or Tex mex...screw that crap

it needs to be wet dripping and cheesy...and overwhelmingly tasty..like an orgasm of massive food stimuli...and chili chili and chili taste

“Gov. Romney we respect,” he said. “If he’s sitting president we’ll open our doors with open arms.”

Really? LOL

You are Mormons and you let Romney stand with a national chain founded by a homosexual? (Not that there’s anything wrong with that).

LOL, again.

You have got to be kidding me? You will actually wait until he is President to seat him but, for now you want to keep your religion and politics away from your restaurant?

Someone ain’t right in the head.
